However, I cannot but dread what the future holds for the following generations.

Similar thoughts were recorded on the walls of an Etruscan tomb (circa: zipdi-do-da BC). Speculating on the forthcoming decline of civilization brought on by the occupants death and the subsequent loss of his cogent wisdom and advise for the "younger generation".

Are you sure? I haven’t heard of the Etruscans accomplishing much in the last couple thousand years. Sure the land is still there, but that’s it.
