DETROIT, Mich. - Rescue 4 has learned from sources close to Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick that a legal defense fund is in the works for the mayor and will be set up soon. City employees are being asked to give between $100 and $1,500.
And city contractors are being asked to give between $10,000 and $100,000.
Business leaders tell Rescue 4 they were contacted in the days before Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy brought charges on Kilpatrick.

WOW!
Well, they’re used to it. That’s how you get to be a “Friend of Kwame”, the price of admission is a $1,000.00 donation, for starters. As the saying goes these people came in driving Escorts and now they’re driving Escalades.
That’s called trading in public office in most jurisdictions. Given the amount of money solicited, it is likely a felony.
Put me down...NOTHING
Wanna keep that city contract Honkie? Better fork up some dough.....
I may just be from the far, far boondocks, but even I can see this is a shakedown. Where are the Feds on this?
I didn’t think that sounded right, either. God only knows what would happen to an employee who did NOT donate.
And as far as the contractors? That really sounds wrong, as future contracts may be awarded due to contributions to this fund.
I understand this fund is for Kwame only. God only knows how Christine will pay for her defense.
I'm sure Obama's church will contribute. /sarc
Hizzoner may want to brush up on the First Rule of Holes.
I won’t be surprised if the Dems contribute to him....after all Black democrats control the election apparatus in Detroit.
This is the guy who cost his city $4 million in a civil lawsuit when he lied.
I thought Boss Tweed was long dead.

Wrong! A Honkie can’t even bid on a job in that city. My business partners and I went to a seminar at a local Detroit college a couple of years back. It was called “Doing Business with the City of Detroit”. At one station we handed out business card to the person behind the table. She asked “Are you minority owned, female owned, or disabled veteran owned. We said no, and she handed our business card back to us. You have to be better than 50% owned by one of the above before they will even talk to you. And that only gets your foot in the door.
Thanks for posting. King Kwame and his enablers/co-conspirators.
Comment BUMP!
The Republican State of Michigan Attorney, Mike Cox, called this stuff about Kwame "urban legend" some time ago. Michigan Governor Jenny "Grantheft" Granholm is crickets-chirping-quiet on this issue. Michigan has criminals and enablers masquerading as politicians.
Kudos to Kym Worthy, her hard-working staff, the Detroit Newspapers, and local talk radio.
Even Willam Marcy Tweed didn’t have this much chutzpah.
Got yer check right here.
He sent an engraved invitation. Hope they RSVP.
