I think the difference is sorting. Articles are sorted by their activity with "Activity".

Articles are sorted by post date with "Articles".

I'm not sure about "Articles", but , if you're in "Activity, my understanding is that you can't be wearing any pants while posting.

Articles are listed in the order they were posted.

In Avtivity, they are ‘bumped to the top’ with every comment.

I don't know about their application on this website but maybe looking at other contexts will help. Maybe not. Articles: a, an, the. Activities: say, see, move, e.g.

Why is it that my comments get moved to Chat but the articles themselves stay in News?

I’d like to hijack this thread by asking for a feature request.. Right now I can show all posts to/from me. I’d like to be able to also only see
1) articles I post (no messages to/from me)
2) messages I post (without messages to me)

Does anyone keep getting threads from 2001? This happens to me every day.

And when you reach the end of the list of threads under the Brief tab, and click “show more articles”, the next page shows articles under the Comments tab.
