It's never one-on-one, unless the thug outweighs you by at least 25 pounds or is 20 years younger.
Unfair, isn't it? This is where even a 5-shot .38 snubby would be your best friend(s). Probably, if you shot one, or even showed it, the rest would run.
Carrying a gun is a serious responsibility, though. You have to imagine scenarios like this and think through what you will do, and how you will do it.
There's no time to figure it out when a gang is in your face. If you're mentally ready and you're prepared, they will sense it and know you're not a victim.
I am blessed by living in a nice, crime-free rural area where things like this rarely happen. I don't always carry. However, I should. You never know.
