Would a patriot obsess propose amnesty for illegal aliens, oppose a fence, and vote against barring terrorists from this country? I do not think so.

Yes, McCain served in the military. So did McVeigh and bravely. I have heard that the only planes McCain damaged were ours.

I agree physical appearance should not be a criteria. I recall many here who made fun of Kerry's teeth and tan and other features. I never noticed McCain's teeth. His lumpy face and short arms have received more comments. He does look much older than his age and creepy.

I disagree. McCain doesn’t seem to be as slack and wrinkled as many folks 5 years younger than he is. His mother, in her late 90s, also looks about 10 years younger than she is.

I have never noticed McCain’s teeth, either. His shoulders were damaged by repeated torture. His arms aren’t short for his stature, they are practically immobile, and since they cannot extend, I suppose they do appear *short*. I find him less creepy that either the hag or the lightweight liar. I also may be the only person in America who does not think Obama is handsome.

McCain seems to me to be running on a conservative donk platform. I didn’t hear him say he would let any other nation set our final course, just that we would listen to their concerns. He must capture a percentage of the donks and most of the independents in order to win. He is purposefully running a *pleasant* campaign. Probably he has taken note that people who snipe and snark end up being tied to the negativity, while those who remain above the gutter fray are perceived as fair and as statesmen.

It is all politics. About all I can tell myself is that most Presidents end up with a legacy 180 degrees from campaign promises. I cannot believe that when POTUS, he won’t have advisors pointing out the impossibilities and dangers of most of what he would *prefer* to do. He actually has more real power in the Senate then he will have as POTUS, IMO.

If any of this turns out to be incorrect, we are screwed, I agree. But what would change? We are not only already screwed in many respects, we have two other candidates who want to re-enact policies that would extend the recession into a depression while running away in Iraq. They are out-of-the-closet fascists. At least McCain doesn’t seem to be that.

Do I like him, politically? NO! This will be my most unenthusiastic vote ever and one consumed with anxiety over limited options. But McCain took grave damage from sadists and survived. At some level, there is a strong core to the man. It’s all I have, but I couldn’t sit home and let either of the other two win.
