That is some dazzling rhetoric, Jane Austen, but none of it is true. He is not a leftie, he doesn't have bad character, he isn't stupid, he doesn't look ill for a 71 year old, he doesn't act crazy, he doesn't want to harm this nation, he doesn't lie like Hillary and on and on. He did not vote against barring terrorists from entering the country. As you and Vigilanteman know but are being obtuse about so you can continue to trash McCain, it wasn't that he supports having terrorists entering the country (what a ridiculous accusation) but that he didn't want such strict restrictions on the number of illegals allowed to stay in the country:
The amendment would have restricted the number of illegal immigrants eligible to remain in the country.
It was defeated 51-46 when Republican Sens. Larry Craig (Idaho), Pete Domenici (N.M.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Hagel (Neb.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Richard Lugar (Ind.), Mel Martinez (Fla.), John McCain (Ariz.), Arlen Specter (Pa.) and George Voinovich (Ohio) voted with the majority of Democrats to defeat the language. Instead, the Senate passed a similar, narrower amendment that would prevent some criminals, including sex offenders and some gang members, from becoming legal residents.
I live in So. Cal. and am currently having to deal with a mayor who is telling us he has to jack up garbage collection fees in order to pay for police and firefighters (we're always only short on cash for them somehow) but that the $1 billion the illegals are costing the city has nothing to do with anything. So the immigration problem IS a problem to me, but I am not fool enough to throw my vote away because I disagree with Johnny about this when the safety of the country is at risk.
And while McCain SAYS he'll prosecute the WOT tooth and nail, he says nothing about securing our Southern border, pushes for amnestying people who break our laws, forces our continued dependence on foreign oil by refusing to support drilling in ANWAR and wants to close Guantanamo. Until he says those things, it's obvious he isn't really serious about the WOT.
So, to paraphrase your own words, people who take MacCain at face value, refusing to carefully parse every word that falls from his shriveled lips, ARE clowns.
Does it amaze you how many respected individuals are friends with him, support him, even love him, if he’s so crazy? It isn’t unusual for a marriage to crumble after extreme trauma or tragedy. That’s not an excuse, but it doesn’t make me conclude that he doesn’t have the character to be President. Just consider how many powerful leaders in history have had affairs. He was ashamed of the Keating scandal but was actually found guilty of nothing. His “treatment of the POW/MIA” business is a bunch of crap peddled by a few angry nuts on the internet and bought into by people who want to hate McCain, and yes, he voted for amnesty, just like President Bush, and I voted for President Bush both times, too. Didn’t you? What are your big plans on election day if you aren’t voting for John Sidney?
No, that only shows that "respected people" can also be scumbags and hypocrites...e.g. Teddy Kennedy is very well respected and no doubt loves MacCain dearly.
He’s the GOP candidate. If you don’t vote for him, then don’t try and pretend that you care one speck about the WOT. Because you will get Carter style negotiations and the sharing of arms technology with Barack or Hillary. So McCain is the best we have in this election.
Why don’t you look at McCain’s website at the list of people who support him and tell me they are all scumbags and hypocrites. Then I will think even less of your opinion.
He wouldn't get my vote if Jesus Christ himself endorsed him.
You are preaching to the choir.
I’m not voting for him.
I still believe that Hillary will be the next President. The powers to be ordained that years ago. Obama almost threwa monkey wrench in their plans but Limbaugh and the Republicans gave her a respite.
One more thing, the Clintons smoozed Obama’s pastor but no one mentions that.
Why the Republicans want to inflict the Clintons on us again is beyond my powers of comprehension.
—McCain has moral and mental health issues. His pro illegal alien stand is not something a patriotic American would promote. He should never be allowed into the White House.—
Chuck Norris (yes, *that* Chuck Norris) said that US presidents age 3 times as fast as “ordinary” humans, and given McGeriatric’s age (he’ll be 72 if he takes office in 1/2009) and previous health history, IF (in caps) he nominates a *real* conservative as Veep (that leaves Mitt out IMO), then, maybe, he gets my vote. Otherwise, I just vote for the “down ticket” folks. Otherwise, I agree with your post entirely.
I don’t believe you are a conservative. I also don’t believe you know history or fear repeating foolish mistakes.
Believe what you wish, and we all thank you for sharing.
“God bless Nancy Reagan, but it’s just plain wrong of McCain to take advantage of someone suffering from dementia.”
You seem to be confusing Nancy Reagan with her late great husband. Perhaps you might see the doctor and get your own memory checked?
Thank you for sharing, Ma'am.
Reminds me of George W. Bush's wishful foreign policy speeches before 9/11.
After that, reality took over.
Methinks McCain will have his 9/11 if he is elected, and he'll have to face up to being the 'decider' also.
