I’m thinking back to the DrDOS days of course.

MS does have a competing security product. But that wouldn’t explain why Symantec had more problems than other competitors, unless.. nah.

I do think adapting to MS, or any proprietary OS is only possible with the help and cooperation of the OS vendor, and I think I remember Symantec complaining about this early on with Vista.

I haven’t anything about F-Secure or TrendMicro in regards to SP1.

Your explanation may be correct. Symantec merged with Norton and I have no idea how they consulted with MS. Now I am more trusting of Kim to tell me what is working.
