Obama's pastor: Product of privilege, not poverty
WorldNetDaily ^ | March 25, 2008 | Morton A. Klein

The whole world now knows that for nearly 20 years, Sen. Barack Obama has attended Chicago's Trinity United Church and that his pastor is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. In his speech on race on March 18, Obama criticized some of Wright's statements but also essentially excused and rationalized the pastor's sermons. He summarized the reality for many African-Americans growing up in past decades – inferior, segregated schools; discrimination; lack of economic opportunity; inability to provide for one's family – before stating, "This is the reality in which Reverend Wright and other African-Americans of his generation grew up." Half right.

African-Americans suffered, many even horrifically, in the past, but Rev. Wright was not one of them.

How do I know?

It happens that, as a Philadelphian, I attended Central High School – the same public school Jeremiah Wright attended from 1955 to 1959. He could have gone to an integrated neighborhood school, but he chose to go to Central, a virtually all-white school. Central is the second-oldest public high school in the country, which attracts the most serious academic students in the city. The school then was about 80 percent Jewish and 95 percent white. The African-American students, like all the others, were there on merit. Generally speaking, we came from lower/middle class backgrounds. Many of our parents had not received a formal education, and we tended to live in row houses. In short, economically, we were roughly on par.

No surprise here. Marxist leaders are usually well educated and do not come from poverty.

Who is part white? Rev. WRight?

I’m asking out of curiousity. But I actually have come to the conclusion that race in the 21st century is nothing but a social construct, nothing more and nothing less.

Most people are of a mixed race or have mixed race families or WILL have in the future.

So the racists try to reduce the world to making judgments based on the color of one’s skin. Color means nothing in terms of race.

I have lived in places where people had every imaginable combination of skin color, eye color, hair color and texture, features, you name it. No one even tried to put a name on themselves.

I met one woman in Hawaii who, in explaining her racial/ethnic heritage, just said, “chop suey-—whatever!”

I just posted the same thing to quark (before reading your post) except I remembered the event as being in Hampton. But you’re right.

On all counts!

Just adding a bit of current news about Mr. Wright (can’t really stand to call him a pastor):

Obama’s Minister’s Appearances Canceled

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/mar/25/obamas-ministers-appearances-canceled/

By WILLIAM MARCH of The Tampa Tribune

Published: March 25, 2008

Local appearances over the next three days by Barack Obama’s controversial minister have been canceled.

Bible-Based Fellowship Church minister Earl Mason, just told the media that he canceled the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s three-day visit because of security concerns.

Mason said that although other local law enforcement agencies were to be involved in providing security for Wright, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office backed out, prompting Mason’s concern over the ability to provide security. Mason said he is waiting to hear back from the sheriff about why his department backed out.

You are so right!

Mr. Karl Marx married Jenny Westphalen, who's father was a hereditary knight and high Prussian official, MADE her sign her name as “Jenny Marx, nee BARONESS Von Westphalen”, and had people address his daughter as BARONESS Marx!

What trash!

My deceased father, a hard-working white farmer, never wore a $300 suit or a $200 pair of shoes.

You were lucky. I was too. We both had fathers we could be proud of.

Try my husbands: Born in Appalachia to a cancer-ridden mother, sickly siblings and a coal miner father who died when my husband was 13. He went to work because there was no help for it. He would have loved Wright’s opportunities.

And I'll bet your husband doesn't hate this country - and you have never heard him yelling, "God Damn this country"...right?
