“So this means a restoration of a free Tibet will almost have to involve the expulsion of the Han Chinese already there.”
The Han Chinese were resettled in Tibet by the ChiCom regime much against the wishes of the Tibetians and, in some cases, the Hans themselves. You ought to be ashamed of using an ethic cleansing argument when it comes to the Han Chinese - who are by far the current experts in all forms of genocide.
Welcome to FR, btw.
Potato, Potahto. You agree that the Han Chinese have to go, yet there is no nice way of getting them to go.
Please note that *I* didn’t call it “ethnic cleansing”, which I might add was an instantly trite expression. But yes, civilians will have to pay the price for the actions of their leaders.
I just do not see any nice way for the Tibetans to get the Han Chinese to leave Tibet, assuming the Chinese military leaves. It would probably be best if it was an orderly withdrawl, but that is seldom the case in the real world.
The same applies to the Uighur region of West China, or as was just a small mention in the news yesterday, the Chinese plainclothesmen leaving Nepal, where they have been sent to fight Tibetans.
In the future, it also seems likely that China and India will get into another brawl. Things happen.
