AG Goddard hails U.S.-Mexican cooperation on border issues

Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard said newly forged cooperation between U.S. attorneys general and Mexican prosecutors will help authorities clamp down on international smuggling and money laundering operations.

Goddard, chairman of the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG), told Legal Newsline that CWAG's meeting earlier this month among several state attorneys general, federal officials and prosecutors from Mexico was a watershed event.

He said U.S. authorities - state and federal - were all on the same page, willing to work in tandem, a dramatic transformation, he said, from when state and federal officials were working separately.

"I can't say enough about what a big step forward this was," Goddard said in a telephone interview Friday from his Phoenix office. "We've turned a page both in terms of state-federal relations on this side, but also in terms of bi-national cooperation across the border."

Why have state and federal authorities not been working together on the immigration problem? Am I missing something?

Nothing a few gators and land mines wouldn’t fix.

‘Cause they didn’t want to.

I think what’s happening now is that some areas are reaching critical mass with the problems created by illegal immigration, human and drug smuggling and they’re having to get their butts somewhat in gear.

There was an article posted recently that said the Phoenix area alone has around one kidnapping per day related to the above and it’s now spilling over to where citizens are being targeted.... The politicians are probably getting a little uneasy now, knowing that they aren’t far behind if the trend continues.

There is Youtube video of the Mexican army crossing the border to help smugglers pass our border patrol. Mexican Cartels decapitate the heads of their police officers and roll them like bowling balls. The Mexican government gives border crossers guidance and maps to make it thru our deserts. A few days ago a Mexican police chief fled to the US asking for asylum after his fellow police officers were killed. The Mexican army has moved to the border because the Mexican police are corrupt. Mexican Invaders send $20 billion home a year.

They can’t take care of their own country but are now offering to help us, I don’t think so.
