Five years ago, the US government presented what it said was proof that Iraq harbored biological weapons. The information came from a source developed by German intelligence -- and it turned out to be disastrously wrong. But to this day, Germany denies any responsibility......(Der Spiegel)

“German Intelligence Was ‘Dishonest, Unprofessional and Irresponsible’”

what was truly dishonest, unprofessional and irresponsible was how totally reliant the cia was on foreign intelligence sources for ANY major intelligence on the middle east

well, when will the left correct their mantra to

‘the germans lied’

the cia accepted what the germans told them and bush accepted what the cia told him -

the only error there was decades in the making, of u.s. over reliance on foreign intelligence sources for first-person, human intelligence, to simply be massaged by cia ‘analysts’

At that time the intelligence community en masse had this view, from France to Australia and Russia to China. The reason was very simple: radio and mobile intercepts from the generals in Iraq indicated that this was the case as they all had this belief. Saddam wanted everybody to think that he had them in order to prevent an Iranian attack.

The problem was that we all wanted this to be the truth and was unable to think outside the box as the consequences would be disastrous if the had them but the intel estimate was that he didn't. Better safe than sorry!

Better safe than sorry. Saddam was a jerk, he would have been boucoup problems down the road, and taking him down while we had justification was the right thing to do.

This is the second time the Curveball story has made the rounds, at least. The lefties have little else to talk about, so they just recycle old smear stories as if they were new.

I suspect Iraq may fall completely out of their minds in the near future though. Bigger fish swimming now.
