Bernard Lewis is still a great man and scholar ...But if you want to see some real & valid deconstruction of him check out some recent postings by Hugh at JihadWatch

I excuse him because he is 90+ years old and in his mind has Muslim sources he must placate. In Turkey mostly and this over emphasis on Turkish Islam makes him too charitable to Muslims turning to democracy. This cannot happen because Allah is a harsh dictator and Muhammad imitates Allah. Plus Muslims are commanded to emulate the life of Mohammed
