A New York gay activist and his husband are challenging the Polish President to a meeting after becoming unwilling poster boys in a campaign against the European Union's proposed charter of rights.
President Kaczynski showed images of Brendan Fay's wedding to Thomas Moulton in a televised address to his nation on Monday in which he gave warning that the Lisbon treaty's proposed Charter of Fundamental Rights could legalise same-sex marriage in the devoutly Catholic country.
The Polish leader screened a brief video clip of the men, both wearing kilts, getting married in Canada in 2003 after the province of Ontario legalised gay marriage. He also showed their wedding certificate. The lack of an exact definition of marriage as a union of man and woman could challenge the moral order commonly accepted in Poland, and it could make our country introduce institutions contrary to the moral convictions of Poles, the Eurosceptic President told the prime-time audience.
Mr Fay, 49, a documentary film-maker, and Mr Moulton, 50, a paediatric oncologist, were shocked to find themselves caught up in the controversy when they were inundated with calls from the Polish media.
It came totally and utterly out of the blue. I was looking forward to a quiet Holy Week, to be honest, Mr Fay told The Times yesterday.
He accused Mr Kaczynski of demeaning and insulting not just our civil marriage contract in a way that dishonoured the love and commitment of others like us around the world. For us it was a moment of love. Here was a political leader turning that around, he said. I live in New York. I'm a happily married man. I have a good life. It's not so much the personal effect as it is the message, particularly to young people in Poland.
The Irish-born Mr Fay is a veteran gay activist who established the Inclusive St Patrick's Day Parade in New York after gays and lesbians were barred from taking part in the main march down Fifth Avenue.
After Mr Kaczynski's speech Mr Fay sent a formal protest to the Polish Consul-General in New York. We are frustrated to hear that images from such a joyous day are used to spread intolerance . . . We would never have agreed to permit our photographs as part of a homophobic campaign, he wrote.
The Consul-General agreed to meet the pair next week. Mr Fay also went on Polish television to underline that he and Mr Moulton were Catholics who met at Sunday Mass. But Mr Fay said that the couple wanted to meet the Polish leader, who has a long record of being anti-homosexual.
“A New York gay activist and his husband....”
What flippin moron wrote this. Only MA allows poofers to get “married”. And it only counts if you remain in Barney Fags state.
Holy flying balls, Batman !
This could get interesting.
How dare you make fun of the fact I like to put my penis up another man’s rectum. And vice-versa. /sarc

yitbos
Enjoy them now pal, because in the hereafter yours will not be quiet, they will not be holly and they most assuredly be longer than weeks...
What about the gerbils ? They’re not feeling the love.
Dare you to guess which one is the woman.....
Okay, it’s the short one.
“The Irish-born Mr Fay is a veteran gay activist who established the Inclusive St Patrick’s Day Parade in New York after gays and lesbians were barred from taking part in the main march down Fifth Avenue.”
We were barred too by the homosexuals, we were blocked from marching and yes I have the T-shirt.
>” In 1994, Roger Hedgecock, a radio talk-show host and former San Diego mayor, rallied “normal people” to join the parade to protest what he called its “homosexual agenda,” and the group filed suit seeking to be allowed to march in the parade. A Superior Court judge dismissed the case.”<
I demean and insult them for attempting to equate their civil union with holy matrimony. They are dishonored? I feel dishonored by their attempt to hijack the holiest of unions that has been in place for thousands of years. I, a hetero, accuse the homos of demeaning and insulting my marriage to a woman by attempting to make their perversion equal to it.
LOL
“A New York gay activist and his husband “
only a poofer could have written that
Mr Moulton, 50, a paediatric oncologist
It is beyond disgusting that this pervert is allowed anywhere near children.
You can't make this stuff up.
Poland Rocks!
Whatever gays do, it is not marriage.
You forgot “BARF ALLERT”- the perverts were quoted in this article way more than sanity I presume..(couldn’t read the whole thing).
Excep they’re not a couple, not “married”-only counterfeit pretending, and it “IS” gross!!
