What's even more fun is to be booked, then, on the next leg across continent to Perth, and have that one delayed by hydraulic probs on the 747 for something like 6 hours.
I'm a smoker, so I got to know every square inch of that huge Transit Lockup area -- one of the Qantas gals would direct me to the concourses where no Asian flights were due, and I could puff to my heart's content (no pun intended) while I waited.
Plus, she’s pregnant.
