Denver must raise $40.6 million by June 16 for the party's Aug. 25-28 convention

Why is Denver on the hook for anything? What makes a political party so special? Do convention cities normally agree to raise funds to host gatherings of beauticians, morticians, and the like? I don't think so. So how come the DNC gets a gov't subsidy?

If they were smart, they’d bring in Romney to fix the DNC just like he fixed the Olympics!

I live in the Denver suburbs and don’t plan on going anywhere near downtown that week.

I live in the furthest reaches of the Western Slope and don't plan on going anywhere near the Front Range that week.

(I'm sure our commie governor will somehow make sure that our taxes end up supporting this.)

With all of the fires from the riots, there will be plenty of light.

OMG! Just think of the global warming!

Cities with inferiority complexes are always willing to be suckers and pay someone to be called “a world class city”. The PTB in Denver are always trying to prove we are “as good as” New York and are willing to pay huge amounts of tax-payer dollars to prove it. Most of the taxpayers were happier when we were just a cow town.

I’m in the foothills about 60 miles south...have a clear view of downtown from my hot tub. It’s a little far away, but I should be able to see the flames after dark.

Isn't this an illegal contribution?

Or are they giving the same amount to the The Republicans?

Thought not.

They’ll need the Colorado National Guard, so add that on.

They should of held the convention in South Park.

No, seriously.... How come they just didn’t go to George Soros and ask him? Or maybe they should just tax all the rich liberals who vacation in Aspen.

They picked Denver to make themselves appear centrist. :’) But you’re right, during the 1990s carjacking epidemic in the LA area, a number of big name celebs bought ranches and whatnot in the mountain states, claiming they just wanted to get away from the Hollywood celebrity hustle-bustle.
