As police sped toward West San Jose on Wednesday night where Homer Bejarano Resendez lay fatally shot, the city of San Jose was accelerating through one of its bloodiest stretches in years.

Wes McBride, the executive director of the California Gang Investigators' Association, said he was asked Thursday in a conference in Las Vegas what was different in the state's gang landscape from 30 years ago.
Not a thing...
Is he being a joker? Thirty years ago, the demographics was quite different in West San Jose, CA, as you didn't see an illegal alien behind the counter of every business, street corners and piling ten families in studio apartments. The area was a safe part of town.
Like L.A., the SJPD has a very aggressive enforcement on seat belt violators and smokers who light up in public places, but they refuse to work with ICE to tackle this illegal alien crises.
Sure there are a lot of Hispanics featured on your deader list.
But isn’t, like. 75% of the SoCal population now HIspanic?
SO - the list would show fair representation, yes?
It’s backwards here in Alaska
Natives (Indians for you in Rio Linda) make up just under 7% of the state population but make up over 30% of the long term inmate population.
Screwy world, ain’y it?
No matter how you slice it, Latinos make up a disproportionate number of violent felons vs. Caucasians when it comes to percentage of population. Facts do not lie, the Latin culture is a more violent culture.
The national crime statistics are available as all LE agencies must submit their crime stats to the national database. No body wants to really talk about it but our two largest minorities are committing the lion’s share of violent crimes.
Don’t speak of poverty being a factor, what is poverty? Not having a new car? Only one TV? Not having a Blackberry? Can’t afford $200.00 shoes? My folks were “poor” but hard workers, they weren’t criminals either, they taught us boys to not whine, just get to work and keep trying harder, we are responsible for our own actions and well-being.
I work in our County Court at Law (in a Texas county) and let me tell you, it is a RARE defendant that doesn’t have an expensive cell phone, a good car, diamond studs in their ears and lots of expensive tattoos. They tend to dress like hell, have no manners, can’t express themselves, the list goes on. There are exceptions of course, ones who have gotten in a jam (we’re not talking about all murderers and rapists you know...) and work to get out of that jam, that’s the ones our judge empathizes with (no, he’s not a liberal) and tries to work with to get them back on track.
I’m sick of race/poverty being used as an excuse for bad behavior, no manners and criminal acts against innocent people.
All I can say is it's probably not plaid, for obvious reasons.
San Jose is in Northern California, not SoCal.
Yup, was responding to another poster with list of criminals they posted - not dirctly related to SJ story.
LOL
SoCal = a colonias de Tijuana?
I grew up in SoAz but moved many years ago, not because of the Mexicans (a Nationality, not a race BTW) but because of the snowbirds....
That is no joke!
I normally warn folks from up here (Alaska) to avoid Disneyland after dark just because of the gang problems. I understand the management has armed patrols at night to try and keep the trouble at bay....
Are we heading back to the 40s?
“zoot suit riots in Los Angeles, June 2, 1943 due to move of pachuco gangs from El Paso in 1942, they wore long coats and long ducktail hair, and were blamed for crime increase in LA by Hearst press;
city ordinance passed in summer 1942 prohibiting zoot suit, police began sweeps of barrio;
death of Jose Diaz and arrest of 22 pachuco gang members in August 1942 in the Sleepy Lagoon case; riots in 1943 also in San Diego and Pasadena “
An old head I knew talked of “mass hanging of Mexicans from the lamp posts when the Fleet got back to town” that being SD
Ping!
