Parade-goers in Scranton Adore Hillary: "Girls Screamed like when the Beatles Arrived"

A crowd that organizers said was the largest in the parade’s 47-year history jammed downtown streets to greet Sen. Hillary Clinton, who returned to Scranton Saturday for the second time in five days, again to adoration.

“Hillary, Hillary, Hillary,” the people who filled downtown sidewalks frequently chanted.

As Mrs. Clinton walked, dozens of people constantly rushed ahead on adjacent sidewalks to get as close to her as possible. Girls screamed like when the Beatles arrived in the United States.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said parade day coordinator James “Bambi” Coyle, who’s been involved with parade planning for 20 years.

“You can’t believe the support you have here,” one woman yelled. “I love you,” Tara Meredick, 34, of Taylor, shouted before snapping Mrs. Clinton’s picture as the candidate paused. “I love you, too,” Mrs. Clinton replied.

“Mom, I just shook Hillary Clinton’s hand,” one girl shouted.

The headline is inaccurate. The girls screamed “like when BEETLES arrive”.

No; I don’t knowingly hang around anyone who would vote for Hillary.

Besides, there’s 2 reasons that people go to the parade: to take their kids to see it, or as an excuse to start drinking at 7am and be wasted by the time the parade starts.

HI BC,

You are so right. I Just wanted to comment on the airport that the Hazleton area citizens are against. You have an aging population that will not allow progress. That is why the area is in the shitter. What is wrong with allowing a Cargo Airport into the area. It will bring jobs and money.

Pittsburgh's St. Patrick's Day Parade is the second largest (w/NYC's being numero uno). Hillary marched in the Pittsburgh Parade first last Saturday (about one and half mile walk) and she was very, very well received there. She walked (in PGH) with Ed Rendell, the Burgh's 'Boy Mayor' Luke Ravenstahl, and the County Council Chair, Dan Onorato. All three endorsed Hillary. The people we were near and chatting with (you are packed like sardines) along the side walk all were of the opinion (kind of savvy in a Dem way) that if PA is the state that puts Hillary back "IN" the race, that she will 'owe' PA bigtime.

For what its worth, Nobama openned his campaigned HQ in dahntahn Pixburgh today, and the Trib reported that dozens of supporters showed up. Dozens!!!

When Spenser was a kitten, he came to my door and asked if he could live here. We said ‘sure,’ and it’s been great ever since.

Spenser found you!

I also feed 4 strays. They are healthier and better looking than my house cats. My house cats all have ear problems.

I go thru tons of dry cats food a week to food all the puddys.

Bill Clinton was just in Bethlehem and Allentown, and there was a very large turn-out. One guy heckled him, but the rest of the crowd was thrilled...

Bill’s been around here...but small venues (he was in Washington County about a week ago). Chelsea was at several local colleges, doing Q and A sessions. She is very poised and was well received. Obama was at a college CBCC last week...then he went to Philly and gave his ‘typical’ remark. I am not seeing any real ‘signage’ yet...but I am guessing they are waiting til snow risk goes down (a week or two from now).
