Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Nobody on this earth.
Exactly.
Spot on!
I agree with you 100%.
Especially on the point that the welfare state is nothing to be grateful for.
I took Buchanan’s point as a counterpoint to what Obama said, which was (as always) that government needs to do MORE and, by implication, that the black community (and we know who is referenced by that) is where it is today because the government (aka white people) have done nothing to help.
So, yes,it’s a paradox. The welfare state is nothing to be thankful for, but being thankful for the fact that this country has put its mind and treasure to the goal (however misguided the plan) of “helping” the black community is a good starting point in shedding the victim mentality.
Sadly, I agree.
I had a friend who was a missionary in Central America. He said once, through a more or less miraculous series of events, almost an entire village came to follow Jesus within a short period of time.
He said about a year later he went back there and he could not believe how this place had changed! People had started finding ways to provide for themselves better and just on and on. He said the practical effect of how the individuals had changed their worldview was mind-blowing!
I think we all know this is due to racism...
So if I understand you right, if white rapists weren't so racist they'd rape black women equally as black rapists rape white women.
This just proves black rapists aren't racist, as they are willing to rape white women.
Chortling? You think people are chortling about the riots this summer? I know some people who are very worried about the riots. Some are scared to death that they are going to lose their small businesses. I don't know one person who is chortling.
Because the nation is about to put his disciple in charge of the nuclear football.
that’s the point, the black grievance issue is not the question, the fact that Obama’s standing so far to the left in the room that you couldn’t fit Karl Marx between him and the wall is . I’d be hopeful a lot of blacks recognize that through the prism of Wright, if it’s not just a shouting match about grievances, which is what I see in Buchanan’s piece.
He's about 20 years too late for that. He should have walked out of that church and shaken the dust off his shoes decades ago.
A great piece.
The difference is that Wright hates white people. Buchanan doesn’t hate anyone.
I knew two white women who were rape victims of black rapists. One committed suicide.
Thanks!
Holy cow, Pat Buchanan doing his impression of a stopped clock.
When Pat is right, he’s right.
Buchanan is right 99 percent of time.
He hits it right in the ten ring again and again...Just like this article.
