At the time slaving was at its height, Africa was a place no whites could penetrate. Diseases, natural obstacles, lack of knowledge of African languages and various tribal cultures, difficulty introducing much less concluding trade agreements without sympathetic African interpreters ...etc. Take your pick, NO whites could dare travel, trade or conduct a slave enterprise on the African continent without the direct and enthusiastic cooperation of tribal leaders themselves who stood to gain and did gain tremendously by the arrangement.

The history books tell us that black Africans were enslaved in America.
Are you suggesting that they were not free people until they reached our shores?
A big politically incorrect demerit for you,my friend—you will have to pay extra reparations under Pres Obama for such blasphemy.

There were most defintely many African collaborators in the slave trade just as there were many French collaborators with the Nazis in World War Two.
Doesn’t make the practice any less sordid,though.
