I read the speech through several times. It is really a masterpiece, moving and though I disagree with him staying in a church with a pastor he knew was spouting nonsense on some topics, there is no perfect pastor and they all get it wrong on some things. What I would fault him for, if he did not do this, is failing to bring up his disagreements with this pastor at the time of the remarks. You know, give him a call, take him to lunch and say to him “Pastor, you know the citizens in the towers that day, on the plane that day, in the Pentagon that day did not BRING THIS ON THEMSELVES and some of them were African Americans who were killed in those towers on those planes in the Pengtagon. Pastor, please consider telling the congregation that what you said was incorrect, these Americans who were killed did not ‘bring this on themselves’ and instead say something like what perhaps you meant and that is that the US government’s policies have not helped the Christian Church to spread the gospel in these Muslim lands by insisting upon Christians there having the freedoms we provide to Muslims here in our country! Tell the people in our pews that America gives Muslims the opportunity to spread their views about their god here but our government has not provided support for our missionaries to spread the word about Jesus into these Muslim lands. That is the problem, isn’t it? If our missionaries in Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Saudio Arabia, Kenya were permitted to preach the gospel and win Muslims away from this false god allah to faith in the Lord Jesus who loves them and died for our sins then instead of believing that by blowing up our towers and killing people that they would win God’s approval they will see that God loves them just as they are without one plea and that the true God doesn’t want them to gain heaven by killing His enemies but by loving them!! Pastor, preach this gospel.”
But did Obama say these things? He would have told us this if he had, wouldn’t he?
He couldn’t have said any of those things because he doesn’t believe them. Simple truth is that speech was politically motivated and an attempt of a cover-up of his true feelings and beliefs.
The truth is far from Obama.
I see your point, but read up on Richard Wurmbrand and compare his behavior to Obama’s.
no perfect pastor and they all get it wrong on some things.
Thats all you see this as a pastor “getting it wrong”? You MUST be joking !
