Mitt has already said that he WOULD accept a VP slot. And besides, who better to advise McCain on the economy, which is going to be the N0. 1 issue in the campaign?

the sharp sting out of McCain’s nomination.

So the 2 topmost considerations are:
- winning the election; and
- PRESIDING AS SUCCESSOR-PRESIDENT.

Romney is head-and-shoulders better at both.
