Agree. I like Cox, but a) a congressman doesn't help much, and b) a Californian (unless its Arnold) doesn't help much.
We need them in the Senate, but DeMint or Burr would be pretty good; would add a southerner; and would add a conservative.

No freakin way. He has not stopped the illegal naked shorting by unscrupulous hedge funds and has shut down investigations in to same. (I’ll have to go look for a link to the story) but I wouldn’t trust this guy. The SEC has shown me nothing.

Nothing McCain does is going to help him. He cannot find a person conservative enough to make up for his participation in McCain Feingold, mexican amnesty, and on and on. There isnt a person that conservative on the planet, and if there were, he would not run with McCain. Amen.

The economy is going to be the No. 1 issue for the election. Which VP prospect is perceived (and rightly so) as THE most knowledgeable on economic matters and has attained spectacualar success in the business world? Which candiate would be best at balancing McCain’s admitted lack of knowledge on economic issues?
Gov. Romney.
To: ari-freedom; Clintonfatigued
that would be a pretty good pick and helps with california. No VP candidate choice will flip enough votes to win California.
To: ari-freedom
If you’re picking from among the supposed “lesser of evils” you’re already in hell, even if you don’t recognize it yet.

romney is a keynesian corporatist who is for universal health care. Not what I call a solid fiscal conservative.

I don’t consider Mitt to be a conservative...but he’d be the best choice of anyone that ran this time out. His financial cred is unmatched, and I can’t see Hillary or Obama picking anyone he wouldn’t slaughter in the VP debate.

Well then he's simply lying when he says he'll choose someone who shares his beliefs. I think he'll choose Lindsay Graham. That's why he's with him and Lieberman will be sec of state.

I’ve seen Cox on TV and he is sort of telegenic but not the best speaker. If McCain goes with a House member I would rather see Portman or Kasich. If either of them could deliver Ohio that would be a big break. Kasich’s TV show on Fox was pretty good as I recall. His voting record was quite conservative but he did break ranks with the GOP to support Clinton’s useless “crime bill” in 1994. That disturbs me.

Nonetheless, scope the tagline. In the fall we will have a choice (at worst) between an FDR figure and a Jimmy Carter figure. That’s an easy pick.

I suppose Pandsey Grahamnesty might be on the short list.
Why not? He’s been McCain’s butt boy for some time now.
They could enjoy “quiet lunches” in the dining room off the oval office.
