I was there around lunchtime and as it turns out there were 3 pro-Marine students and no anti-Marine students, but they’re supposed to be picking up some after lunch.

There was a die-in at market/3rd where 29 were arrested and another at market/montgomery where 50+ were arrested.

I have photographs of one of the die-ins and the recruiting station on the website - http://www.protestshooter.com/200803195th/

Hopefully you packed your camera! Keep your head down, and go get ‘em! We’ll take ‘em on down here in Studio City!

Best wishes to all the Freedom Fighters tonight!

Just had a funny thought...the moonbats could be called “freedom fighters” too, since they fight freedom.

Hell's teeth, if someone could delete that last post, that would be great. The formatting suicided.

Here's the after action report (or at least what I can report). I showed up around 1645. After wandering about for a while and not finding any friendly forces, I set up shop across the street (them being in the park) while keeping an eye out. As usual, it took me a long while to set up. Things go by quietly for a while, until I notice a small knot of American flags in the middle of things. As the presence of one American flag in the crowd, let alone three, is something highly unexpected, I moved in to investigate.

There, I find who I was expecting. It was the SFSU College Republicans, SF Voice for Israel, and, unexpectedly, the Berkeley College Republicans. I also ran into FR's own rogue yam. I estimate our numbers to have been around twenty. Why they were in the midst of the crowd, I have no idea. Things start to heat up. For some reason, I was the one who got interviewed by KTVU 2 News (not like that will get any airtime). I admit, I blew it. Nervousness got the better of me, and the summation of why I was there (numerous reasons I had all washed aside) was "because I love my country".

A little after she finished with me, that's when the fecal matter hit the fan. First, it was a bunch of Communists who started about "class war". Our counter-chant of "USA" and my own "Down with Physics" did not amuse them and produced many derisive snorts. Bah. Then came getting mobbed. They were all around us, screaming. This went on for a little while, until we got escorted out of the howling mob by the police for our own safety. On the way out, that crazy codepink lady (the one on the left in the picture in an above post) recognized me and gave me yet another condescending comment. I guess she's still mad about how I shot down her argument last year.

Things quieted down once we were across the street. More insults were slung, but at a distance. This kept on until the lefties prepared to begin their march. We moved to a convenient corner, the better to keep heckling them from.

I think I got into a group picture of some random people dressed in black cloaks wearing masks. I'm sure my red hoodie (with hood up) and flag/sign added some color to them. Sometime around this time, one of the peaceful and tolerant lefties hit two of our guys in the face with his sign. Leigh of the SFSU crew chased after him and snapped the lefties sign in half, thus causing the leftie to run away in terror.

We maintained our position until they had all marched on, though not without having caused them much vexation. After that, we called it a night.

Notable events: The foe were burning and/or ripping flags apart. One of the SFSU guys liberated a torn flag from them.

There was a fellow who kept screaming how "we weren't Christians." As I'm not, I pointed that out to him. He says, "of course not", and continues. Next, he starts screaming "Free Tibet". Sure, like the United States is really the one at fault there. Our joining him in his Free Tibet chant confused him.

A green-haired lass with the chiche anarchy symbol t-shirt called us ignorant and derided our low numbers. I bellowed out "sound off like you got a pair". Childish, but amusing.

Two of the Berkeley lads confused the hell out of me for a while. Their signs said "9-11 was an Outside job" and "End the Commie Occupation of San Francisco". As we're all used to seeing that sort of leftie junk, I was mighty confused until I re-read the signs.

Some guy kept mumbling at us "murderers". First, I called him a pederast. Then, I accused him of unlawful carnal relations performed with a goat. That shut him up good.

One of the "Veterans" for Peace fellows came up to us, and said that the best thing we could do was enlist. As I've tried four times (and failed them all, due to poor vision), that riled me up. I move in and said, "Give me five grand for LASIK and I'll go tomorrow." He shut up after that.

In between those, "Che is Dead, get over it!", and "1,2,3,4, Victory in the Iraq War", I think it's safe to say we gave them a hell of a time. As soon as I find some pictures, I'll be sure to put them up.

I got quite a few pictures of the patriots and some video. The video I’ll upload to youtube in the morning (they’re doing work on the site right now). The pictures probably in a day or so but I have one up now as a kind of token: http://www.protestshooter.com/200803195th/

Very good report, E. I have little to add. We went, we saw, we FReeped. The student patriots were the heroes of the day. About equal numbers from Cal and S.F. State, one very nice young lady from U.S.F., and FR’s own Expendable from San Jose State. I arrived to Civic Center Plaza at about 5:10 pm and immediately saw a knot of American flags right in the heart of Indian Country. “There’s my peeps,” I thought as I waded in. The young patriots were standing firm amidst a swirl of craziness and stinkiness typical of San Francisco but still of an intensity that would unman the faint of heart. I mostly stood at one end, letting the student leaders take the fore, watching the back of our ranks in order that nothing ugly take us by surprise. As the plaza filled the crowd closed in around us and the S.F.P.D. eventually stepped in and escorted us across the street. (This was a perfectly reasonable decision on their part, I thought.) We continued our vigil until the America-haters left on their march and then we disbursed after introductions and greetings all around. It was a fine showing of the colors by a small but stout-hearted group of proud young Americans (and one somewhat older guy, yrs truly). My fellow FReepers can be proud of these patriotic students.

Yeah, that was pretty cool - it took people a minute to realize what it meant and then their little heads had trouble going on from there.

I just uploaded the evening pictures, and there’s a ton of shots of the patriot group if anybody’s interested. http://www.protestshooter.com/200803195th/ and then click on “Patriots” if those are the ones of interest.

Hey, I just thought you might like to know that not only did Little Green Footballs feature one of my shots and provide a link but I’m on the front page of Michelle Malkin which means that quite a few people ended up going into the Patriots section of the report and saw you guys.
