AFRICAN AMERICANS, INDEPENDENTS, DEMOCRATS, REPUBLICANS COMPLETELY AGREE, COMPLETELY DISAGREE...
Looking at the reaction of a MediaCurves focus group of 709 viewers to Sen. Barack Obama's race speech in which he took on the issue of his controversial pastor, Rev. Jeremiah C. Wright, it's once again interesting to see the racial divide in how the speech was received. It's the same racial split Obama so deftly described in his speech.
Blacks who took part of the survey had higher levels of agreement with Obama than non-blacks. And Democrats had more favorable impressions of the snippets of the speech they were shown than independents and Republicans.
Watch for the reaction to Obama when he asserts that he never heard his pastor say anything derogatory about specific ethnic groups. Non-black respondents weren't necessarily buying that while blacks did.
That could indicate a real problem for Obama going forward if a lot of voters believe he's being less than candid.
But even Republicans came back to Obama when he said Wright's mistake was that he was blind to the progress that had made on race issues, advances that explained the reality that one of Wright's own members was, indisputably, a serious contender for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, in large part because he had forged a multiracial coalition.
Can't understand why the white folks don't see Obama as a “uniter”.

these studies are worthless without the survey pool indicating:
if they believe in the idea of “white priviledge”
if they believe that 9-11 was an “inside job”
if they believe that AIDS was a government conspiracy
if they believe that AIDS and drugs are used by our government specifically to target the black community
if they believe that our government has planted WMD in Iraq
if they would classify the people who killed Black Jesus were “rich white europeans”
if the Pearl Harbor attack was allowed to happen
I will give the pastor the Tuskegee experiment as an example of science gone wrong. So was Kinsey’s masturbation and exploitation of children by criminals (who also made up his exagerated statistic of homosexuality among the general population).
But it is hard to gauge just how well Obama’s speech works as an APOLOGY if the audience rating the speech sees NOTHING WRONG in what the pastor said in the first place.

You know what I want to know is besides whites How do the other ethnicities take Wright’s racist comments? I’m really curious how Hispanics, Asians, Indians, and other groups in this country?
Most of the racism in this country is in the hearts of black people, not whites.
It's the same racial split that was evidenced in the country's reaction to the OJ verdict ... so what else is new?
Perhaps whites were as appalled as I was when he bashed his white grandmother—you know, the one who helped raised him and later paid for his schooling, when his low-life black bigamist “father” left him.
I was steamed when the “Great Uniter” attempted to dump White Guilt on Reagan Dems for voting for Ronald Reagan during the 1980s. A common myth being promoted in political science classes is that Reagan won California and New York thru promoting fear of Blacks among White suburban women.
Yeah this was Obama’s opportunity to save his Presidential candidacy and what did he do, he has singlehandedly destroyed his chances. To sun it up:
1. Refused to standup against Black Racism
2. Attacked 1/2+ of the R voters for Racism
3. Equated the Grannie to a viscious racist
4. Demonized the entire Free Economy
5. Promised enormous taxes to fund welfare aka racial healing...jeez what else did this fraud do?

I agree, I just want the record to show that I am not in denial about some things that occurred in the past. The pastor is a raving conspiratorial bigoted nut and needs to be denounced as such.
Obama did no such thing yesterday. He defended it as the words of an angry old man born in a different era. He did not refute specific points the man made. He did not defend this nation’s honor.
No he said it was an imperfect union founded with the institution of slavery. There is slavery in the world today. And Obama’s parents are not descendend from American slaves. But he claimed it as part of his family’s history by proxy of his wife so he “is” down with the struggle.
He ranted about white priviledge. If this is the case, does he believe that his life would be far better off if he’d had two white parents and a broken home?

I was there and my family was active in it. Born 1957. 7th generation Mississippian. Any of you crackers out there that don’t know diddly about civil rights and white racism and blacks struggles and what it’s like to live in black majority environs as a white boy/man are free to ask.
