Political strategists today were quick to parse how Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's sweeping speech about race and the American experience may affect his campaign to become the nation's first black presidential nominee.
But among African-American scholars and leaders, the post-speech talk wasn't of polls and focus groups but of witnessing history. Obama's wordsabout slavery, black anger, white resentment, and the imperative to move forwardharked back, they said, to those of Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln, and they deserve a similar place in history.
"This was his kairos moment," said the Rev. Alton Pollard, dean of Howard University's School of Divinity, using the ancient Greek word that characterizes moments that can alter destiny. It was, he said, Obama's particular "moment in time," and one that required him to lead.
"Race was never an issue that was going to disappear," Pollard said. "It's too much a part of our national fabric to think that we can gloss over it and move on without having to contend mightily with each other."

But he standing in front of four American flags today
as he threw his white grandmother under the bus
Listened to it on my way to Appleton yesterday and I also thought it sounded quite good, considering the ends he wanted?
Would/did I buy it?
No.
Did his supporters and those on the fence concerning the guy buy it?
You bet.
Moreover Obama's supporters are feeling more self righteous then ever.
The guy has some masterful propagandists writing his pap, that's for damned sure, and we'll see it play-out in the coming weeks and months in his favor. ;^)
"At this point any further exploration of the 'Wright' issue is going to be seen as piling on, due to the very influences he highlighted across the racial divide."
HA!!
Spot-on analysis, ol' friend.
They're all set to do what the left does better than anyone or thing else: attack the attacker visa vi anything attacking his message where his message may be defined omnidirectional, as needed.
Slick as snot.
"The Clinton campaign cant touch this anymore for fear of the inevitable backlash. Another bullet missed its mark."
Correcto mundo.
The hag-bag's today *complimenting* the guy after trying to "lynch" 'em, too. :o)
State-of-the-art politics, at its best, "Clinton style".
Those discounting the overall positive impact of this are merely whistling past the graveyard.
So be it, forewarned is (still) forearmed.
On a related note, listen to this.
My father-in-law's a devote Democrat. Quintessential limousine liberal if ever there were.
{Believe me the man & I have mixed it up more than once, sometimes getting so *spirited* the girls had to come between us [read: rescue him]. *That* kind of Democrat? {g} }
Wellllll via telephone --from his winter vacation pad in Scottsdale, no less -- seems the ol' boy said if Obama gets the nod? He's going to vote for McCain!!!
Said this to his daughter who in-turn told me or I'd have not learned of this, ever if a'tall.
Can make up your own mind as to *why* a died-in-the-wool Democrat would do something they themselves have to find as outrageous as anything they could possibly do with their vote.
I've my own suspicion.
Be that as it may I'll bet the man's not alone among the Democrat *base*.
...of that you may be sure. ;^)
"But he standing in front of four American flags today as he threw his white grandmother under the bus"
His black family wasn't their for him as he grew up, his white family was there for him. It's shocking and vile that he now gives them so little credit and that he has embraced a racist church and minister. I guess King Lear got it right
"How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is To have an ungrateful child. I,iv,295

Obama Republicans during the Primary season spawning millions of McCain Democrats in the fall General election...Hmmmm...
Though this be madness, yet there is method in it...
Thanks for the info!
In all honesty?
McCain w/couldn't be elected any other way if in-fact he wins, a'tall.
"Though this be madness, yet there is method in it..."
A poster on this BB who's not even an American citizen is right now and has been attacking the likes of Rush Limbaugh as well as others in conservative Talk Radio who advocated pubbies cross over in the primaries.
Forget the flake behind the attacks isn't an American citizen. All the while constantly smearing --w/ ample help from those who profess to know better, mind you-- genuine conservative spokespersons and consider the actual state of confusion the crossovers have left the Democrat party. The leftists are a train wreck. :o)
Limbaugh's scheme, "Operation Chaos" or some-such, has resulted in something any right-winger couldn't possibly have predicted and my F-i-L is proof positive of that.
I for one couldn't care less whether the present leftist divide's the result of and/or an "unintended consequence" of Limbaugh's effort(s) or not.
I'm simply lovin' it all too much at this point to care. ;^)
"Thanks for the info!"
Yea, well you're welcome.
However the real thanks --from all-- needs to be paid one person & one person, only.
...Rush. ;^)
Obama has no experience.
Professors just talk.
“Obama likes to strut his policy stuff by playing the professor. After 10 years teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago and several before that running meetings as a community organizer....”

The Hyde Park Community
U of Chicago
Obama taught constitutional law.
I would love to hear his lectures.
I wonder how he feels about Gorelick Wall?
What does Obama feel about Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground who is now the distinquished professor at U of Illinois of Chicago. What about his constitutional rights when our government wiretapped tapped him during his terrorist attacks on our government.
Protect the criminals rights?

Inexperienced Obama...for the love of God don’t get this guy near the the White House...what happens if he pushed the nuke button by accident?
STRANGE BUT TRUE: In “Audacity of Hope,” Obama admits that, while representing Hyde Park in the Illinois General Assembly, he mistakenly voted against a bill to add protections for children against sex offenders. “I accidentally pressed the wrong button,” he explains.

OBAMA WATCH
Obama against Patriot Act I and II.
Unconstitional...must protect bad guys.
Obama won Jewish support for Illnois State Senate Seat claiming he was pro Israel but Obama really supports PLO’s cohorts.

I’m with you. The speech was solid.
Imagine if he'd used his own words to take Wright to task?
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to... religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them ... (or government conspiracies) as a way to explain their frustrations.
