The part of the speech I heard was well written and well presented, as usual. But when I thought about it later, I felt that I eaten air-popped popcorn for dinner.

Obama won't drop his ties to Wright who remains "part of me." His solution to black anger is to encourage poor whites to be just as angry. And he wants race, or at least his alleged ability to reconcile the races, to be a major theme of his campaign.

I don't think Americans want this election to be about race; they want it to be about the economy and national security. So, how does this speech help him with anyone other than his own base and the MSM??

He may get the dem nomination but he will not carry one southern state / the heartland. Most people will not let one feel good speech prepared over several days with advisers erase 20 years of association and friendship with a white hating pastor that state God Da*n America, that Obama has called his mentor, had him as his spiritual adviser to his campaign, married him and his wife, baptized his kids, wrote a book about one of his sermons in which Obama refers to whites as CRACKERS. McCain will walk into the POTUS. Obama is finished. Take that to the bank.

I did start to read the transcript. It was much too wordy and rambling to finish. Obama can say nothing that will justify his attending for 20 years, the Church where Wright was "preaching" bigoted black racist rhetoric against all none blacks.

Obama and his wife and children had to have absorbed those rantings. His refusal to cover his heart, say the pledge, wear a flag pin, having a flag with a picture of Chi Guevara hanging in the office of his Houston campaign headquarters were all coded subtle messages that were being sent to those that think as Wright and he think. A 'vote for me and we will change things'.
