That's true, but it's not the story.

The story is how, and why, whites are in denial about how many blacks agree with and approve of Reverend Wright.

We don't see, because if we did see, we couldn't live together with them any more.

It's no good to simply say "this deplorable strand of opinion is one that no candidate is bound to embody" IF it represents 80% of the blacks, as it probably does.

I’m a little concerned when folks seem to think a political speech given by someone who’s running for president can overcome plain facts: Obama’s spiritual leader is a radical leftist who cowardly misuses race to defeat his enemies.

Didn’t Elliott Spitzer give speeches filled with moral platitudes during the years he made friendly with his night owls? ;0)

he has appealed to blacks, with the idea of re-enforcing the liberal supreme court rulings that mandate racial gerrymandering that says blacks aren’t represented unless their representative is black

now, he has pre-determined the 2008 election results as racially motivated if HE is not elected

the card he has attempted to lay down is one where, no matter his political philosophy, a black running for president (obama), according to obama will only be rejected because of his race

he is no different than j.jackson and a.sharpton, just slicker at it

Obama knows how to push their white liberal guilt button.

In today's WSJ editorial page, there is an op ed titled "The Obama Bargain." It makes that point, and talks about how Obama has "turned his blackness to his political advantage" by making a bargain: Not to shame whites with America's past racism, in condition of whites not using his race against him.

Apparently many democrats like that bargain. How else to explain how a guy with no record and lots of empty rhetoric is so popular?
