Do you deny he held back Patton? Do you deny he was behind sending Pattons supplies to Monty for that disaster in Market Garden?

"...the Russian liberators... The soldiers swept through in an orgy of rape. ...the city’s liberators."

THAT is exactly why I have chills know I will have nightmares. Gang raped by their "LIBERATORS"?? "An orgy of rape"....

Ignoring with serious difficulty for the moment my own heritage and the chilling thought that some of these victims and/or even some of their attackers may well be related....

Fast forward to today.

Place this scene in Iraq. Replace the Russian troops with American troops.

Would THEY have been called "liberators??"

"It was not incompetence that caused Eisenhower to forsake Berlin. There had already been agreements before 1945 to establish zones of occupation in Germany; Eisenhower decided it was not worth American blood to take a city due to fall under Russian occupation"

In fact that is not only true, but why Poland wound up as a satellite country of the Soviet Union. Stalin's finger on a map, in Poland's case.

How do wrong or egregious tactical or even strategic decisions make him a traitor? Your definition of treason is more than startling. Are the US Generals from Desert Storm also traitors for not entering Baghdad and removing Saddam? The disastrous political decisions (such as splitting Europe) were the civilians (Roosevelt’s) calling.

“Your comments are evidence of utter ignorance and idiocy.”

Your arguments are not so solid.

Eisenhower’s administration was full of commies and he stabbed McCarthey in the back.

Case closed.

" also thought about Obama’s preacher, and how his racism was accompanied by cheering parishoners and a smile on his face."

Indeed. Listening to the words of Obama's preacher and montor put me in mind of Hitler's speeches....and got me to telling people afterward that Hitler ALSO promised the "hope" of "order" and "change."

The only difference between Wright/Obama's views of a New World Order is the skin color of the Master Race.

Either way....I didn’t read the whole post...it wasn’t treason, it was an attempt by one honest side to make the best of a bad situation with a temporary otherwise bent on world domination just like Hitler.

The germans would have gladly surrendered to Patton

That's speculation worthy of Monday morning quarterbacking.

The Allies justly calculated at least 100,000 dead Allied soldiers if Berlin was to be taken by them. The Russian casualties are telltale. The Nazis in their center Berlin and the Wehrmacht weren't peachy in love to surrender to the Western Allies, just because Patton would be commanding them. Taking Berlin would have meant hundreds and thousands more American deaths. You can't blame the commanders for taking this into consideration.

Whats the matter, Solid?

You are pretty good with the ad hominems but short on the facts.

Do you deny Eisenhower hated McCarthy? That he engineered his downfall?

Why would a “Republican” try to bring down the leading anticommunist of the post war era (that is the leading SURVIVING anti communist as Patton and Forrestal had met their early demise).

How about a response this time instead of another name calling.

I'm surprised they didn't shoot them.

No, I am not insane, and I do not admire the Communists either of that period or of the current day. One of the great miscarriages of justice since 1989 is that so few (virtually none) of the perpetrators of crimes under the Communist regimes have been brought to justice.

The Holocaust was universal in intention--Hitler and his minions would have killed every last Jew in the world, if they had had the opportunity. The Soviet soldiers committed millions of rapes, but they weren't systematically trying to see to it that every woman in eastern Europe was a victim. So it wasn't universal.

It was because I was aware of the reputation of the Red Army that I listened carefully to see if the speaker would have anything negative to say about the troops who liberated their camp. It may be that they were all so malnourished that the soldiers were simply moved by pity rather than lust.

Apart from the German women, very many women (no doubt millions) in the Slavic countries of eastern Europe were also victims of the Soviet rapists. I remember reading about Tito complaining to Stalin about the Red Army raping women in Yugoslavia--and Yugoslavia was lucky in that the Red Army was just there briefly and didn't stay.

Patton could have taken the last two nukes and saved us 50 years of cold war...

The two nukes we had left over after Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

That hateful, mocking of the song, “God Bless America” was asinine. I wish Jesus Himself had walked in at just that time and asked him where’s the love, Reverend? You can bet there has been plenty of money and goodies in it for the Reverend.

There’s a passage in the Bible that speaks to the situation where people become so filthy, hateful and evil that one must just “him who is filthy, let him be filthy STILL” - in other words just leave him alone in his filthiness; he is not going to shut his mouth and listen to wisdom’s still small voice for the love of listening to his own head rattling from the hatred and venom he rattles off.

Whats the matter? Cant find any real evidence for your Moscow spin of how “Russia saved the world”

So you dont believe that the Germans wanted to surrender to Eisenhower and he refused?

................................

“6. HARRY S. TRUMAN TO ELEANOR ROOSEVELT, MAY 10, 1945

View
Document

Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:

Your note of the 8th is most highly appreciated. The whole family were touched by your thoughtfulness.

I noticed in your good column today you expressed some surprise at the Russian attitude on the close of the European War.

I think that I should explain the situation to you. On Wednesday, April 25, our minister to Sweden sent a message to me saying that Himmler wanted to surrender to General Eisenhower all their troops facing the western front and that the Germans would continue to fight the Russians.

...................

Now, why would Eisenhower not take all these Germans in as prisoners? Why would he pursue more combat deaths fighting germans that wanted to surrender? Why would he hold back Patton who could have taken Berlin - who would have stopped the communists from taking over half of western civilization.

Looks like a traitor to me.

"Eisenhower was a traitor."

Finally went back to your post, which I apparently missed ENTIRELY.

No, he wasn't a traitor. Stalin hated the Germans (remember the Hapsburg Empire, which subjugated Russia for years; RUSSIA hated the Germans). Read WWII military history. Yeah, he had personality conflicts with Patton but DID NOT consciously GIVE half of Western civilization to ANYONE. We were fighting the Japanese AND the Nazis AND Italy. Because of Japanese Naval capacity, and the pressing need to develop and strengthen not only our own naval power but our burgeoning Naval Intelligence department, we were pouring most of our resources into Navy and the Air Force (aircraft carriers, only way to fight the Japanese) He did the best he could, given ALL the circumstances. The Allies NEEDED Russia on Germany's Eastern flank. It would have taken much longer to win otherwise, and our losses were ALREADY horrendous...or victory may not have happened at all.

We had far more nukes than what has been let on.

And guess what, we made sure the program was infested by commies so that the Russians would get the technology too.

(Yes, toto - Trinity was not the only nuke).
