Ben Stein is one of the good guys, but I’m baffled by his take on this.

Like Pat Buchanan, Ben has become erratic as he’s aged.

It happened to Barry Goldwater too, as I recall.

Screw Stein. Hypocrite swine Eliot Spitzer can rot in hell. And his stepford wife, too (she was one of his advisors telling him to brazen it out, and not resign. That power is hard to give up once you’re used to it.).

Ben Stein is not one of the good guys. He has mostly very liberal views and he gets too much attention from conservatives for his very few and limited things he does agree with us on.

He wrote a column last week that the GOP should have tax hikes. It looked like what a liberal would write because he is a liberal. Don’t be fooled. He is not a conservative.

You tend to hear this kind of talk from people who are worried about being outed themselves, or have friends who are. It's the ol’ “victimless crime” reasoning to justify the actions of those caught.

Me too, Ben’s probably being a bit reactionary. I remember the 900 FBI files and the indiscriminate use of the IRS and other investigative/persecution arms of the government utilized by Clinton. Perhaps Ben presumes this the natural progression?

No kidding. What the hell is he talking about? He states that Spitzer was involved in clearly illegal activity and in the same breath condones it because thousands of men do it every day.

Well Ben, is it illegal or is it not illegal? You stated correctly that it is illegal. So what's the problem? Simply because Spitzer was elected to office by a huge majority he's a victim of an overzealous State? Wrong.

I used to think that, but he's got a wide liberal streak. Watch his attitude toward taxes and the government on the Saturday morning Fox News show (Cavuto, maybe?). He's for higher taxes, as 'we' can afford it. He's for government charity spending, and actually seems to think the government can be competent at it without introducing all sorts of moral hazards.
