Wright laced into America’s establishment, blaming the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the “United States of White America.” Many in the congregation, including Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made.

I have an ancestor who was personally acquainted with Roger Sherman, Partridge freed his own slaves, yet was a Tory, because of his faith in the Episcopal, (English) Church, he built it in his town, so I understand his difficulties in giving it up. In that same generation I have an ancestor, Maj. Ebenezer Lockwood who fought against, the then, despised British Lt. Col. Tarleton. Because of him, Lockwood, I qualify for membership in the DAR. I am also a descendant of Myles Standish and so I qualify for the Mayflower Society. How can this be when these groups are so exclusive, and every single soul's ancestry is so vast?
There are at least 1000 people of whom I have found names and evidence of direct decent. Those are just from one side of my great, great, grandfather. I could not have existed without any single one of them.
Who is anyone to claim such singular race from any race in this day and age of information? To do so shows an ignorance of the world and life, so profound, as to exclude them from anything of more responsibility than something where nothing more than money is at risk.
We each have so many ancestors, that for anyone to claim anything less than all of their ancestors is to do an injustice to all of their ancestors.
So what is left for us? Ideals. Ideals that are true, that are universal. Ideals that are based on what is real and viable, not on what any current fashion, fad, or cool click requires.
Obama's church, and his wife, have too many irrelevant conditions to be met in order to be included or to belong to their group. They remind me of my high school's 'Jocks' who in their antiquity, just like silver plate after years of polishing, the now exposed copper heart is a blemish to what is left of the silver plating, and now has no value what so ever, not even as some kind of decoration. And let's face it, can we afford a Presidency now, that can be nothing more than an embellishment?
