3/14/2008 - LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. (AFPN) -- An Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 62nd Fighter Squadron here crashed about 12:00 p.m. today south of Alamo Lake, Ariz.
At the time of the accident, the F-16 was on an air-to-air student training mission. One pilot was on board. The status of the pilot is unknown at this time.
A board of officers will be convened to investigate the accident.
As soon as additional details become available, they will be provided.

I wonder if the pilot went in with his A/C and they are holding off to notify NoK?
Very likely. My brother once worked at that desk in the MPC that contacts the nearest Officer for dispatch to the decedent's home of record. Sometimes it was a long and difficult process to locate and assign someone for that unenviable task.
I hope that is not the case and they just have not released information for another reason.
I scraped up enough Class A mishaps out in the desert while active to last me a lifetime & a half.
If this is the case (NoK notification) we will likely hear something tonight.
