About a month ago Daniel Henninger had a column on the Wall Street Journal editorial page pointing out how bleak Obama's picture of America is, as if we were in the middle of the Great Depression. The public just hears the nice-sounding phrases about hope and change and doesn't pay attention to the rest.

I’ve heard uplifting sermons and inspiring talks all my life.

I have also had them ruined within seconds by the sudden exposure of the true, hidden heart and mind behind the beautiful words.

Not all the words in the world can erase the ugly, racist, hateful diatribe that Wright spewed.

I know a hater when I hear one. Now I know the reason Michelle Obama said she wasn’t proud of America. Hidden in her heart is probably the same ugly hate.

I scanned through all these paragraphs. He seems to mention a lot of praying by Hannah for something to happen, to change, to get better, but I didn’t see any encouragement to take matters into one’s own hand, get back up off the ground, try harder, no matter how many times it takes to succeed. One can sit around all day and pray for a better life, but the only way to actually get it is to work toward it. After reading parts of this, coupled with Rev. Wright’s hate-mongering sermons, if I was a member of that parish, by the time the service was done, I’d be ready to commit suicide.
