I’m curious if people believe Greensburg, Kansas was a particularly sinful den of Satan or something.

LOL - have no idea....and not all acts of nature are acts of God’s judgement.....thank God!

If he acted against all the evil in this country with weather, most of the US would be wiped out....as it would be in any country.

Even in His wrath, God is merciful....

Well, you have to remember His aim isn't too good. FR posters informed us that He was bowling all those hurricanes at Judge Greer in Florida during the Terri Schiavo dispute, and He didn't even scratch the guy. ;)

There are stories about Saint Marys, Kansas, though...

And it is quite the opposite.

Back in the 1930s and 1940s, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Basketball team would stop in Saint Marys (college) to practice before going to the West Coast to play UCLA/USC in basketball.

In other words, it was a heavily Catholic town.

The story that is prevalent in this community is how tornados that have hit this area have tornados that will bypass the town.

Whether these tales are folklore or talltales, I don't know. But it is claimed that the local barber, a FreeMason, believed in the power of the Catholic Church because of the fact that so many storms have missed Saint Marys and destroyed other local towns...
