It doesn’t have to be recognized in all 50 states. The founders wanted each state to be a singular test tube, and citizens could vote with ballots and with their feet. There is no reason that a Marriage License must be accepted by all 50 states other than the federal government tells us it must be so. They never meant the federal government to be our master, they wanted us to in control.
This is a conversation about what is, not what should be. And right now, homosexual marriages in Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii or anywhere else are legally recognized in all 50 states. Therefore, the federalism canard in defense of homosexual marriage (which was the crux of the post I was responding to) is entirely bogus and thoroughly dishonest.
