She’s from Belmar. Thats a mix of cultural backgrounds, as I remember.
The Jewish enclave is Bradley Beach, two tiny towns north — that’s less than a mile. In between Belmar and Bradley Beach is Avon-by-the-sea which is/was nearly all Irish.
All through high school, my friends and I would go to the beach in Belmar. We’d take the train from South Amboy down to Belmar, and walk from the station to the beach. Back then (early-mid-80s), Belmar was a party town. It was a fun place! Most girls who lived there had the following ambition...dark tans, great bods and marry someone who wants to live near the Belmar Beach. That was about as deep as it got.
