When I was growing up, in response to some silliness like this, the ENTIRE student body would show up the next few days with candy in our out of their pockets.
Been there, done that. Backin the 50’s.
But, what got my attention here was that the honors student (buyer) was detroyed, the other just got a suspension,no stripping of honors.
Been there, done that, too. With my sons, early 80’s, but we won in the end.
The basic idea is to take good students down a peg. Just check and you’ll see that in most of these cases of egregious overpunishment, it’s good students being victimised.
Some of the girls at my HS decided to wear pajama tops as blouses. They were cute and modest, but they were PAJAMAS. The powers that be had a conniption, so we had a little girl powwow and next day, nearly every girl in school showed up in a pajama top for a blouse. Silly, I know. However, things like these are what makes relationships and a feeling of community.
Can you believe the world was so innocent in 1952 that we thought this was daring?
