It’s a symptom of a deeper problem and it may be as simple as you flat out can’t stand your spouse anymore (for various reasons). Not condoning it....just saying “lay back and take it” will only make you grow to hate them if you simply don’t like them very much right then.

In which case, there are several solutions, including: (1) handle whatever it is that is causing the feelings, (2) end the marriage, or (for the case where staying together is good for the kids) (3) give your blessings for the spouse to take care of that elsewhere

You don't have to say it. Your animus towards men is obvious. Suit yourself.

Enlightening. So the part about men cheating because their wives are fat isn’t the ‘dumbest said so far’? Umkay.

Not really, men are lazy. With marriage comes an implied contract that we will keep our TV, Barcalounger, beer and love'n in one place.

The effort to 'step out' is beyond most of us.

But when a guy gets humiliated at home ......

OK,
Let me clarify one more time....
If ‘dr.’ L had said “Problems with fidelity in marriage can result from spouses who are not providing adequate or loving sex.” Because I know of women who’ve been unfaithful too.

Or even broader “Spouses will have a hard time being faithful when their needs aren’t being met”
(both spouses and all kinds of needs).

Then I’d be all behind her...but the way it was phrased, as well as her hx of playing to the XY crowd (and yes, I’ve read all her books) makes her look more like she’s going for sensationalism over fact. And throwing another bomb into the ‘women are spoiled rotten and deserve all kinds of crap’ arguments that don’t hold water.

Really, do a random poll with folks who’ve had cheating spouses....most will tell you that their cheating spouses picked fights, found fault with everything, were irritable and hard to please and in general, found a reason to be unfaithful...

IOW, if it isn’t sex, it’ll be something else.

I'm a lot nicer that I was when I was 10 years old (that's when I believe it reached it's peak ;))

And you too seem to have something eating you alive about women that's leaking all of the thread.

I've been very blunt about my life, not much is hidden, that's fer sure. Considering it all, I'm not a serial killer and I've paid taxes since I was 16.....So I guess in spite of it all, I'm a success ;)

Honestly, I'm just trying to provide balance against the rampant misogyny that can overtake these threads and that has had this site labeled as women hating at times. If I catch hell, so be it...but like soda in vinegar, my purpose is more to neutralize or at least show the other side.... and yes, I believe both sides share responsibility.

We’re in agreement then—— both spouses, both ways.

Nothing is eating me alive about women, but I do believe the feminist culture in America is destroying the family. Which is what feminists intended it to do.

I can understand all of that. Frankly I don't care to listen to the woman. I never really picked up on the specifically misogynistic vibe (being a man, I guess that's not surprising), but I detected enough of her overall negativity and meanness that I don't doubt what you're saying.

So as for tact and delivery, I agree that she missed the mark.

So disagreeing with L makes someone a feminist?

Interesting.

You need new friends.
No. They need new wives who don't believe that sex is something that is exchanged for big weddings, house, luxury auto, etc.

That didn’t just happen in a vacuum to all of them. They are responsible for the type of women they chose to marry. It reflects on them just as much.

People really do have those kind of romantic and exotic relationships. I know. I’m living it!

As am I, but it takes work on both sides and it also takes marrying someone that you actually have common interests with, outside of ringing each other's bell in bed. Far too many folks who wind up in divorce court stop doing all the things they did to win over their spouse before they got married. This isn't a man only or woman only thing. I know guys and gals who let themselves go, physically, after they got married and they wonder why their spouses cheated on them. Using sex as a tool to control their spouse, as many women do, is the quickest way I know to chase a man into the arms of another woman.

I waited until I was 42 before I found the right girl. Many of my friends over the years are on their second, third or even fourth marrages. One neighbor of mine just got married for the sixth time! Too many folks get married for the wrong reasons, then don't work at it to keep the relationship "hot".

My problem with Dr. Laura is how she brow beats people. She earned the moniker "Dr. Self-Righteous Indignation" and it fits her like a hand made glove......

It’s really hard to marry a person for the right reason when you’re 20. ;)

I agree that Dr. Laura brow beats people. But I also think they NEED it. Further, I’m amazed they call in.

That said, I must admit that although I listened to her quite a bit a few years ago, I have only listened for a total of maybe 20 minutes since then. It just isn’t interesting any more. Not when Rush is on at the same time.

She said I wouldn’t likely be there either.

How long will it take someone to find your body (or pieces of it)? lol!

We’re operating on the premise (Dr. Laura included) that this is a marriage. It seems more a business agreement with sex and progeny. This is no marriage in terms I understand. Few political marriages are.

With a father-in-law worth $500 million I doubt she is going anywhere no matter what the Spitz does. Wasn't she the one who wanted him to fight for his job? Maybe she already knew about his extra curricular activities.
