There are no gays in Iran. Obviously a planted media story.

We should keep him and put him to work. Presumably he’s fluent in Arabic and/or some obscure dialect of that region. And you can be sure he really hates the current regime. Last I heard we were very hard up for intelligence translators for Arabic and other Arab region languages.

Farsi is the dominant language of Iran.

If there's a valid reason to deport him, being gay, and the repercussions it may bring in Iran is his problem. we have no right to judge another culture. Tolerance and multiculturalism must be upheld.

That’s a great idea, Mr. Clinton.

I didn’t realize that we needed to embrace abominations in order to fight the war on terror.

He’s Persian. Doubt he speaks Arabic. Still useful, of course.

We don’t need to embrace abominations. We need only refuse to embrace the abomination of murdering people who do not deserve execution.

He’s 19. His partner was already executed.
I hope he can find asylum in the UK or somewhere else, having been denied asylum in the Netherlands. He is most likely correct: extradition to Iran will mean his violent death at the hands of the authorities.

By enlisting them in our military?

I don’t see any national interest in poking our nose into this affair.

Indeed, but I think there must be widespread use of Arabic too, since it’s prohibited to translate the Koran. And of course there must be other regional languages of significance to our intelligence operations. Whatever language(s) the kid knows, we should put him to work to earn his ticket to stay.

Few Persians speak Arabic. When they “read” the Qur’aan, they are mouthing the words without understanding them. (Not joking or anything, that’s how it’s done.)

Even if he was somehow taught what the words actually mean, the Qur’aan is written in classical Arabic, which most Arabs don’t understand themselves. Kind of like learning the equivalent of Middle English. Certainly no Arab speaks that way in normal conversation.

Forgot to add that only educated Arabic speakers would use MSA (Modern Standard Arabic - a variation of classical Arabic) in formal situations.

Lots of folks want to keep the immigrant here.

Are these the same folks who want to deport 40 million illegal Mexicans.

One size deportation fits all.

His perverted lifestyle should not be a reason to keep him in the country.

Well, in their mind, he DOES deserve to be executed. Who are we to judge their cultures and morals. What works for them may not work for us. /pc off
