Triple hearsay but all named sources: Mona Charen heard it from John Batchelor, who heard it from Chuck Todd at NBC, who heard it from Hillarys people. Weve discussed why Obama would never, under any circumstances, want the Glacier looming over him from the number two spot. Why would Hillary want it any more than he does? Even if you assume the worst, that shes after power any way she can get it, arguably shell retain more in the senate as a Moynihan-esque Democratic counterbalance capable of thwarting Obamas legislative initiatives than in the vice presidential sinecure, where hes bound to try to marginalize her. Is this just her way of leaking bogus info suggesting shes a good soldier, willing to do whats best for the party if need be, so that she can chide Obama later if he refuses to be equally magnanimous? Its all part of her self-aggrandizing youd make a fine number two, Barack! strategy. If thats true, though, shouldnt she be taking a more public stance with some sort of formal statement that whoever emerges as the loser at the convention should agree to be the others veep, instead of with penny ante leaks like this?
Surprisingly, despite the hard feelings, both sides supporters seem fine with the loser veeps idea. Scroll down halfway through the new Gallup data; not even 20% of Obamas supporters have a problem with Vice President Hillary?
And speaking of bad ideas for VP, a little more hearsay for you:
Romney has allies in the Bush wing of the Republican party. President Bush favors him as McCains veep. Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, preferred Romney over McCain in the primaries, but never endorsed him publicly. Karl Rove, the presidents political strategist, has hinted that he considers Romney to be McCains best running mate.
Weve discussed this before too. Exit question: Bush and Rove trying to sabotage McCain? Im out of alternative explanations.
Obama would have to have a very pronounced death wish to put Mrs. Clinton on the bottom of the ticket.
Two Veeps for the price of one? It would be pretty crowded in the White House.
And when they leave, who gets to steal the furniture?
Hillary doesn’t think she should ride the back of the bus.
IMHO, Obama would reject being the Clintons black lackey. Yes, he would have the appearance of being “kept on the plantation” and under control...afterall, the left cannot have any black person in a position of power. That is against the liberal playbook, under the chapter about keeping black America in a victim status. Gee, I wonder what Al and Jesse have to say about that idea...
To paraphrase Machiavelli:
It’s better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, rather that outside the tent pissing in.
VP? Hmmm - no we’ve already promised that to Kucinich. How does Ambassador to Botswana sound?
Not if they will inherit upon your death.....
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Obama would be smart to disassociate with HRC on any ticket ASAP.
And wait, breaking news...."Body of Barak Obama found shot, stabbed, and run over by train! Arkansas coroner calls death 'Natural Causes'. We'll be closely following this breaking stor(...urk!)"
Finally a followup..."Barak Who? There is no Barak."
"... arguably shell retain more in the senate as a Moynihan-esque Democratic counterbalance capable of thwarting Obamas legislative initiatives ..."
I hadn't thought of THAT - here's another side benefit of this rat war:
Who ever ends up losing the nomination will probably do everything as a senator to screw the other one.
I wonder if Rove didn't have a hand in Rush encouraging us to help the witch?
O’bama would sooner stand in front of Michael Moore in a Dunkin’ Donuts line than have Hillary as VP.
Is it because the Dims don't think a Black nominee is competent enough to choose his own running mate?
Will the Black leaders in this country, please pick up the red courtesy phone?
Why is Hildabeast being allowed to jump on Obama's band wagon?
I would prefer that the Republicans whoop up on a pure Obama ticket in the fall :o)
Have you been in a grocery store checkout lately?
I think they are betting on the grocery store scandal papers to do the dirty work. We report, you decide. LOL
He will never settle for “Driving Miss Daisy”
Never discount the Clinton political machine with its under cover activities and amorality. Hillary will win the nomination.
