Bilal was scheduled to give a lecture and unveil his exhibit excrement. Better. Can we stop calling garbage art now?

The whole point of art is to encourage dialogue. And here I was thinking that the purpose of art is to glorify God...
So anything that "encourages dialogue" is art? How vague and meaningless is that?

Can we stop calling garbage art now? Only if you want to expose the American Haters who hide behind garbage art to protect their treasonous speech/blastpheomous speech/hate speech/.

The purpose of art is, and always has been, to make money.

RPI is an engineering school. i went there on a recruiting trip to play sports when i was a senior in high school. it was so lame. the school was 90% guys, and every girl i saw was asian.
i am sure they get tons of federal money because some very smart people are there making military-type stuff. i can see why they had an issue with this crap.

What would you expect from an engineering school?

The purpose of art is, and always has been, to make money. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but that's too reductionistic. The Sistine Chapel wasn't about money, nor was most (all?) of DaVinci's work, for example.

Roney is a jerk. Can you imagine how many threats are out there against the president. One of the crazy ba$tards out there might well get to him one day. This type of violence encourges crazies. Does anyone believe this gallery would allow an exhibit dipicting the assination of oh say Hugo Chavez or that creep in Iran. I don't think so.

What’s RPI? Seems like I should have been able to learn that from reading the article.

I’ll admit to being a cynic about art (and most other things). Michealangelo and DaVinci surely loved their work, and were inspired by a love of God, but the Sistine chapel wasn’t painted for free. I dont know much about DaVinci’s financing, but wasn’t he supported by the Medici? After all, even artistes have to eat.

Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, near Albany. It’s an Albany paper, so they probably felt less need to explain.
I just got back from there last night, actually.

Roney is a jerkHe sure proved that today. He's "logoc" is the same as supporting a news anchor who gave the U.S. troop position to the enemy - free speech should have limits but Roney can't quite get to that intellectual level.

the President of the RPI student republicans is going to be disciplined (possibly expelled) I wonder if you could elaborate upon this. Where did you hear that he/she might be expelled? Since "discipline" implies punishment, have you heard of any threatened punishments beyond the suspension of the RPI Republican website?
