McCain vs. the Addicts [Pork Addicts]

WASHINGTON -- The congressional Republican establishment's charade, pretending to crack down on spending earmarks while actually preserving their uncontrolled addiction to pork, faces embarrassment this week when the Democratic-designed budget is brought to the Senate floor. The party's presidential nominee-presumptive, Sen. John McCain, is an uncompromising pork buster with no use for the evasions by Republican addicts on Capitol Hill.

Sen. Jim DeMint, a first-term reform Republican from South Carolina, will propose a no-loopholes one-year moratorium on earmarks as a budget amendment. McCain has announced his support for the DeMint amendment and will co-sponsor it. DeMint wants to coordinate McCain's visits from the campaign trail to the Senate floor so the candidate can be there to speak for and vote for the moratorium.

If you agree, please sign up for the Vets Rollcall at the site.

If you don't, I know you'll flame away, that's your right and that's what our troops are fighting for... you know that.

It’s not just about the amount of money. Incumbents who can’t win on ideas alone use the pork to win re-election.

What we really need is a new Contract with America

I’ll believe all this when I see the actual results. Until then.....

At first glance, I thought this was about Mrs. McCain.

The “boilingpoint” solution is to tie house and senate pay to the economy and deficit. Pay them a percent of the GDP minus the same percent as inflation, unemployment, trade deficit, and whatever other economic indicators we decide. AND, deduct from their pay on amount based on spending proposed. For example, the congressman that proposes the most spending gets a the largest percent taken out of his pay.

War on Terrorism – We’ve already noted McCain’s support for energy dependence and his crusade for open borders. (Besides all of the rapists, drug-dealers and gang members coming across our Southern border, terrorists are also infiltrating the United States due to the de facto surrender of national sovereignty.) McCain wants to close Guantanamo and give terrorists the same rights as enemy combatants. He opposes tough interrogation techniques that leave no scars, but have elicited the intelligence that has saved American lives. (Personally, I’d use thumbscrews and the iron maiden on this scum.) A McCain anti-terrorism policy is more likely to be shaped by his friends at the ACLU and The New York Times than by the Center for Security Policy.
