Is is a car? Is it a plane? Actually it's both, and it certainly beats sitting in traffic jams

By the way, my dad is retired, in his mid 70's, and lives on an Airpark. The taxiway goes right up to his driveway, and his garage is his hanger.

When he wants to go on the highway or to the grocery store, he gets out of his Piper Warrior and steps into one of 2 vehicles he owns.

Air cars. 90% air 10% junk. IE Moler air car. Flying Pinto and this remake of a 1930's design.

>We still have a 1/3 washout rate in Air Force, Marine, and Navy flight schools - and these are some of the finest young men and women in the country. Not everyone is cut out to be a pilot.<

Would you stretch this out a bit further and say that, " Not everyone is cut out to be a fighter pilot.

Getting my Private ticket was probably easier for me than getting my Comercial drivers license. Flying an O-1 Birddog is a whole lot different that holding on to a AU-23A Peacemaker then the guy who is strapped into F-4J Phantom is in an entirely different universe completely.

You’ll need some room to make a run at the takeoff. A typical freeway wouldn’t be appropriate.

Especially at rush hour.

What happens if you run out of gas at 10,000 feet? Nobody would ever find you up there!

“To switch back from plane to car, the wings simply fold inwards..” I just hope that the driver understands that he must land the car first or he’ll be in for a very BIG surprise.

That was the very first thought that crossed my mind.

What’s the problem? If he folds the wings in while still in the air, it WILL land!

I am still smiling after reading that.

Looks like the RQ-4 Reaper borrowed the tail/prop configuration of that flying car.

Many people are at at their mental limits just barely driving a car. Flying means thinking in 4 dimensions....it’s beyond most people’s comprehension.
