Same as McCain. He fights against the will of US conservatives, and sides with dems... Therefore “Maverick”

If so, it would be the greatest defeat for activist media since Goebbels poisoned himself.I agree with everyone else, that's a fantastic line.

"I agree with everyone else, that's a fantastic line."
Many thanks! Feel free to borrow it, but poster Jimmy Valentine has pointed out that Goebbels actually shot himself (his family was poisoned). Not being a media fraud myself, I have to stand corrected. The line should be changed to ".... the greatest defeat for activist media since Goebbels shot himself." Still works, though; maybe even better.

I would go with this one; "the greatest media defeat since Hitler went into the Bubker."
But, that's just me. ;-)

“Materialistic politics” win out again. The iman’s promise of virgins in the afterlife gets drowned out by the whirring of dishwasher motors and and the boisterous din of life in the here and now. Predicted here some time back. Ruthlessness followed up by sizeable dollops of benevolency works. You want the whip or an ice cream cone?

that’s just it. they aren’t being held accountable at all. they assume the relaxed drunk position in a wreck and walk away without a scratch. If these two get re-elected being so wrong, what does that say about their constituency?

Let’s just say that I find that letter to be, ah, a little out of character. Of course, it’s entirely possible that Mook The Paunch could have seen the light and is now becoming a contemplative, apolitical ascetic. And flying purple monkeys could be popping out of my butt anytime now.

A slight modification, which you already know if you read the rest of the comments. Goebbels shot himself. It’s still marvelous, with that slight edit.

“He’s dead Jim.”
No way this clown goes from biggest, opportunistic, troublemaker in the region, to “gee, I’m just a frustrated politician”.
More likely, his supporters don’t know how to fill the vacuum created by his death, following a food poisoning induced coma.
