Doesn't this mess up the "irrefutable evidence" of warming of 1 degree over a century if cold records are being set this winter? Seems like this year will negate a lot of "warming".
The Pacific Ocean cooled dramatically due to a La Nina (some believe the La Nina was caused by weak solar surface activity). This caused wetter and cooler weather this early winter in Western North America and the North Central region of North America. While this was occurring early in the winter, the Southeast and South Central US were warmer then normal. That is typical La Nina patterns. The Atlantic has stayed warm. Then about in the middle of winter the Indian Ocean cooled and then Asia also cooled dramatically. Now in late winter the Southeast is finally feeling the effects of the La Nina when it overwhelms the Atlantic Gulf warmth. It was snowing in Alexandria Louisiana last night according to the Accuweather radar. The funny part is that since the Atlantic stayed warm, Europe had a very mild and warm winter overall. Now since Europeans believe the world revolves around Europe, their populace have absolutely no clue and still think warming is occurring. This Summer was a mixed bag in Australia, but we should expect the areas in North America that experienced a harsh winter to also experience a cool summer. The main questions right now are when is La Nina going to completely stop and will the Atlantic Ocean start cooling next.
