A gunman in Thailand shot-dead eight neighbours, including his brother-in-law, after tiring of their karaoke versions of popular songs, including John Denvers Country Roads.
Weenus Chumkamnerd, 52, put his gun to the head of a respected female doctor and seven of her guests as they partied at her home in Songkhla Province, South Thailand.
"When I began shooting nobody pleaded for his life because they were all drunk," he said after his arrest.
He said he was so furious with their awful singing that he did not notice he had murdered his own brother-in-law.
...
Country Roads is a hugely popular song in south east Asia and the neighbor said the revelers had been singing it over and over again.

***I actually thought he was very talented musician and was a icon for country music. ***
Long haired hippie with rose colored glasses! He wasn’t a country singer any more than Nancy Sinatra was even though they produced albums with country songs. Clint Eastwood could sing better!

Think what you want, but Denver was a talented song writer and he had a decent voice. Millions of people also thought so and bought his albums
As for Clint Eastwood being a better singer than Denver, have you heard Eastwood sing?
He sings in the movie "Paint Your Wagon" he SUCKS.

You should haver heard him whine his songs in BIGHORN thirty eight years ago. Awful!
And who can forget the contraversy when he was found to be hoarding fuel while demanding others not use fuel way back in the first energy crisis.

If true, then they didn’t realize they were being killed. Talk about drunk.
Regardless, the murderous scumbag should be introduced to “Ol’ Sparky.”

John Denver was one of the very few karaoke singers who managed to make it big! Dude, somehow or another, he karaoked his own songs!

This story illustrates the importance of soundproof rooms. I built my home with soundproofing in all the walls and solid wood doors.

OMG It's still wildly popular there. It was wildly popular in Asia when it was popular in the US. Back in the early 70’s. almost forty years, no wonder the guy snapped.
