Here is video of John McCain talking on Trinity Broadcasting Network about his faith and some of his experiences while a POW in Vietnam. The video was added to YouTube in March 2007, but I'm not sure when the interview actually took place. Very moving and inspirational. . .

Sorry...no dice. It's one thing to respect a veteran, but deferential treatment in the political arena based solely on military service would have assured John Kerry's ascension to the Office of the President. We wouldn't stand for that in 2004; so there's no point in being hypocritical in 2008.

The last sentence from your source tells me all I need to know. “In 1993, during one of his many trips back to Hanoi, McCain asked the Vietnamese not to make public the records they hold pertaining to returned U.S. POWs.”

Indeed. If roles were reversed and it were John Kerry making such a request of the Vietnamese government, this entire forum would be demanding answers.

John Kerry, was never a registered guest at the Hanoi Hilton.

Did I say he was? Nope, sure didn’t. My point was that it’s one thing to respect a veteran, but deferential treatment in the political arena based solely on military service would have assured John Kerry’s ascension to the Office of the President. We wouldn’t stand for that in 2004; so there’s no point in being hypocritical in 2008.

My point is you obviously have a bug up your * about McCain.

Thing is, he’s the best choice of the three candidates.

So you’re really just helping the two Marxists.

I should hope so. I detest liberals...especially when they lie to me and try to tell me they're conservative.

So you’re helping the two Marxists.

I'm not voting for either Marxist, so -- by your warped RINO logic -- I'm actually voting for McCain.

Congratulations on winning the Liberal Pretzel Logic Award, kiddo.

You're damned right it is...which is why we cannot afford a liberal Republican who's made it clear he intends to leave the borders open and grant amnesty to tens of millions of invaders.

If you don't think McCain will try to push through McCain-Kennedy amnesty through again, you're in for a rude awakening. At least with a Democrat trying to push that through, most congressional Republicans will grow a spine and stand up to another ram-rod amnesty plan. With a Republican at the helm, you know the RNC will squeeze 'nads and withhold money at the next election cycle if they don't get in line behind Señor Juan McAmnesty's Reconquista program.

That seems unlikely, judging from the last 14 years.

That seems unlikely, judging from the last 14 years.

We saw it with the 104th congress. We can do it again. And when Republicans witness the repudiation of the RINO liberals, they'll recognize very quickly that they're going to need to man up if they want to keep their jobs.

Yes, great post. McCain’s detractors are almost uniformly nativists who want the illegal Mexicans kicked back into Mexico. It colors every opinion they have including their view in respect to the honor and heroism of John McCain.

IMHO that’s a game of chicken, which America just might regret.

For a very long time.

You obviously have (way) more faith in the GOP’s ability to find a spine, than I do at this point.

Seems to me, they don’t have one.

But at least they’re not Marxists. Democrats really are now. That’s what’s important.

The GOP are all weenies at this point.

Weenies are safer, than Marxists.

Thanks for the video.

I skipped over this thread’s posts because I know with the amount of vitriol here there’s going to be someone who says something conspiratorial about John McCain being treated Awesome as a POW or being a traitor or something that you only hear from idiots on DU. Someone tell me, was I on the mark? I really hope not...

“Did Crouch mention to him that if he had enough faith, he wouldn’t have been captured or tortured?”

What does that mean?

Just tell me what you meant by it.

Do you have any degree of familiarity with the Word of Faith/Prosperity movement? Crouch’s TBN has been the major vehicle for propagating the teaching.

Basically, it all boils down to: God wants you to be healthy and wealthy and live a pain free life. Any degree of suffering is a result of a lack of faith (”faith” being a substance that we can control by speaking positively).

I think that I get it now, thanks.

It’s just ironic that TBN would be honoring McCain, when according to their own blasphemous theology, his POW years were a result of a lack of faith.
