Here is video of John McCain talking on Trinity Broadcasting Network about his faith and some of his experiences while a POW in Vietnam. The video was added to YouTube in March 2007, but I'm not sure when the interview actually took place. Very moving and inspirational. . .

Included is an interview Tom Brokaw did with Bud Day - the most decorated military veteran alive today. In that interview, Brokaw mentions John McCain to Bud Day, who was describing his treatment as a POW. Bud Day helped to nurse McCain back to health as his cellmate for a time.

Some on this thread are saying McCain was not honorable in his service as a POW - they are “taking away” from his service as a POW.
The very people doing that are doing the work of the DNC to make sure either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama are elected. They smugly think they will see McCain lose, have Obama or Hillary be a disaster for four years and then see a “real” conservative elected in 2012. These are probably people who say they oppose abortion and support our troops.
But by helping elect Hillary or Obama, they will guarantee a pro-abortion Supreme Court for the next 25 years at least, because Justice Stevens is hanging on by a fingernail waiting for a Democratic president. He will resign in a heartbeat once a Democrat is elected, and the Supreme Court will be pro-abortion for a generation as a result. There is no single thing that would do more harm to the pro-life movement than that. But don’t let that little detail get in the way of hating John McCain.
That was good. I would say, given the color and style of his clothing, the interview was in the 80s. (unless his wife doesn’t help him choose his clothes)

McCain is fresh off a win in South Carolina where his service and time as a P-O-W was called into question.
Today I spoke with his roomate at the Hanoi Hilton.
On his website, it’s at the center of credentials he touts. 5 years and 5 months as a prisoner of war. But in South Carolina, he faced a campaign that called that time into question.
A flyer was circulated claiming he was a songbird and soldout his country, while a P-O-W.
Col. Bud Day: “And that is just a bunch of absolute, poisonous rotten lies.”
Colonel George “Bud” Day speaks from a position of authority... A Medal Of Honor recipient, he’s the most decorated Air Force Veteran ever.
He had been a resident at the Hanoi Hilton for about 2 months when mccain was shot down, after flying off the U-S-S Oriskany in 19-67.
Day: “In December he became my roomy.”
Day shared a cell with McCain part of the time they spent there and says the two faced much of the same tourture.
He says the Northern Vietnamese wanted them to help create anti-american propaganda.
Dan Thomas/Reporter: “Did John McCain cooperate with it?” Day: “Absolutely not. They wound up eventually breaking John’s arm.”
Day says McCain was offered an early release but didn’t take it.. finally in 1973 the two left on the same date.
But the shared experience is only part of the reason why day feels compelled to campaign for McCain.
Day: “There’s no one out there that even faintly touches his experience. Been in the military, been in combat, been in the congress, the House and the Senate a long time and he’s always been an extremely independent thinker.”
As for McCains age, colonel day says that doesn’t worry him.. day points to McCains mother... She’s well into her 90s and is active and on the campaign trail.”

I am sick of John McCain using his POW status and I am tired of seeing it replayed in his ads. It is an attempt to pull on people's hearts while it ignores those who did not come home.
Every time I hear McCain remind us or see one of his ads reminding us he was a POW victim I am reminded that my father who flew on B-24’s that he did not come home. He did not raise his family and did not see his grandchildren and did not have the opportunity to serve in Congress and did not have the opportunity this arrogant ass is jamming down my throat while attempting to make me feel sorry that he was a POW or some kind of hero. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As was my father. Audie Murphy was a hero in my opinion. POW’s/KIA’s were victims.
Ask yourself this, what would it have looked like if the Adminal’s son had come home before all hostages? Just sayin’ think about it looking at the big picture. And think about who we classify as heros. With so many heros it diminishes its value.
Show me where McCain ever referred to himself as a hero.
I appreciate anyone who has served our country. That said, it is not a reason to make them POTUS.
If that were the case, Jon Carey would be POTUS and McCain would back him up.

to know what Bud Day thought of McCain during the stay in The Hanoi
Hilton and post-Vietnam.
Unless the author (Robert Coram) misquoted Day...the portrait of
the McCain Day saw in The Hanoi Hilton and post-Vietnam as described
in that book sure sounded like “a mixed bag”.
BUT, seeing Day stand by him during the Iowa primary and seeing that
all the other alternatives suck even more...
I’ll be voting for McCain in November.

John McCain doesn't refer to himself as a hero (he implies it) for his military career. I believe McCain said Bob Dole was a military hero and couldn't be attack for his political views regarding the letter about McCain Dole sent to Rush. McCain obviously believes anyone who serves in the military is a hero and you can't attack them for their political points "because" they served in the military. Do you think McCain thinks is a bigger hero than Dole or John Kerry or the Senator from Hawaii? I don't.
I think McCain thinks he is by far a bigger hero. I think they are all honorable vets who served their country and were awarded for their service. And of all of them there is only one that thinks he deserves something more.
I'm practicing, but I still don't know if I can hold my nose tight enough.

Dang, I can’t get it right tonight. Liberman is an Independent not liberal.

3) Mitt Romney
