Campaigning in Casper, Wyo., Friday night for the 12 delegates to come out of Saturday's Democratic county caucuses, Sen. Barack Obama refused the notion of becoming the vice presidential candidate on this fall's party ticket. Obama was asked by a television reporter, "Can you ever see yourself on the same ticket as Sen. Clinton?" And the freshman Illinois senator replied: "Well, you know, I think its premature. You wont see me as a vice presidential candidate -- you know, Im running for president. We have won twice as many states as Senator Clinton, and have a higher popular vote, and I think we can maintain our delegate count." Many Democrats have long thought of Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama as a dream ticket, offering both the first serious female candidate and the first serious African American candidate for the nation's top two political offices. Clinton surprisingly broached the idea Wednesday morning after she won the popular vote in Texas and Ohio to regain some momentum after 11 straight ... losses, though she still lags far behind in pledged delegates. She mentioned the possibility of a joint ticket again Friday morning during a campaign appearance in Mississippi. Last night was the first time Obama commented on the idea. It's political protocol when presidential candidates are asked about the vice presidency to twist the question back around to the top office and avoid a direct answer. But Obama's response last night was unusually direct and dismissive. The 46-year-old candidate is expected to do well in Wyoming today, as he has done in virtually every caucus state.

HMMM lets see, VP or COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, round and round it goes where it stops no one knows. I know ask your spiritual advisor Oprah and her new age friends I’m sure they can whip out the ol crystal ball and give you a view of the future. Wizards and whiners
who would want to fight Bill Clinton for the last bagel every morning?
If Obama accepted the Beast's offer to be VP, his supporters would look at it as the biggest sell-out in the history of politics.
He's young. He has lots of races ahead if he doen't win this one. He doesn't need to play second-fiddle to Hillary.
people do strange things after landing in bed together...
Which is why I get a chill when folks compare them being on the same ticket with JFK and LBJ.
Not to mention the mischief he could cause her by staying in the senate.
True. Hillary would not be someone I’d want to work near, or for. (not totally hooked on McCain either for the Graciousness Award)
i don’t think Obama is so stupid as to forgo $5 to $15 million annual income for 4 years, while dealing Bill Clinton’s latest faux pas or undermining the VP office for 1,460 days nonstop.
Under Hillary it would be a Vice President in name only, her husband would be the unelected vice president.
I think McCain has a rotten temper and is a bit loopy, but at least there is not a Mysterious Deaths list associated with him . . . .
What if Hillary wins the nom and Mc Lain Picks Obama
Exactly. He’d be an idiot to say, at this point, Yes I would accept being second fiddle to Hillary. That would be a diminishing statement to make, at a point where he is ahead in the race. He did not see he would not accept the VP slot ever — he just said it’s premature to talk about that now. Nothing else to see here, folks, move along.
Bleh, I can’t type today.
“He did not SAY he...”
Wht? I can think of no job less relevant than VP in a dual Clinton Whitehouse. He'd probably be put in charge of maintaining Bill's humidor.
He has no relevant experience to even be considered as President. Everyone was surprised by him. He’d take a VP spot in a heartbeat. IMO.
Like who cares.
I think O'bama would rather stand in front of Michael Moore at a Dunkin' Donuts line than stand between HRC and the Oval Office.
He is not lying.
The headline should have read:
The woman who wears the pants in his family will not allow
her husband, Barack Obama, to play second fiddle to the woman who wears the pants in the Clinton family.
Get prepared. We are going to be the gleeful witnesses to the best cat fight in history before all is said and done.
