Now, about that Texas GOP surprise for Hillary Clinton (the Limbaugh effect)
LA Times ^ | March 8, 2008 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 03/08/2008 10:47:25 AM PST by fightinJAG

One week ago at about this time of day we posted an item here headlined: "Do Texas Republicans plan a surprise for Clinton and Obama?"

It speculated on the possibility of Republican voters in the Lone Star state, faced with an uninteresting, essentially-decided contest between John McCain and Mike Huckabee, crossing over to make mischief in the Democratic primary by voting for Hillary Clinton to prolong the Democrats' damaging intra-party struggle for several more weeks. We'd heard rumors about this and the Dallas Morning News had written about the possibility.

Then, on his Monday broadcast, conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh with his national audience of some 13 million aggressively pushed the idea to his listeners in Texas. Bill O'Reilly, among others, also talked about the possibility on his national radio program, but did not advocate such tactics.

By now, some of you may have heard, that Clinton did pull off....

a popular vote win over Barack Obama in Texas which, combined with her wins in Rhode Island and Ohio, revived her campaign and fundraising and made Pennsylvania's primary on April 22 the newest of many days of decisive decision for Democrats, while McCain clinched his nomination and moved on to begin organizing nationally.

Now, Susan Davis over at the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire has found evidence among some Democrats of possibly enough GOP hijinks to make a difference in Texas. Only 9% of voters in the Democratic primary there were Republican and Obama, as he has elsewhere, drew more of them than Clinton.

Obama is a lightweight and much easier to beat than the Demon.

He has never been asked hard questions and the GOP will roast him if he's the nominee.

The Demon HAS been asked all the hard questions and is a thousand times more diabolical and clever than Obama.

I think you made a mistake.

I don’t know why everyone keeps thinking McCain is going to run a weak campaign. He spent 5 1/2 years in a freaking POW camp for Christ’s sake. Anybody who can do that is prepared for anything life throws at them. Say what you will about John McCain, but he’s no weakling. Compared to what he’s been through, the Clintons and the Obamas (and 99.9% of the rest of us) have led a pampered life.

I know many conservatives who voted for Hilldabeast. I would have but my precinct split and I would have had to drive to another location and stand in line again, so I just voted for Fred Thompson.

Between Hillary and B. Hussein Obama, I'd take Hillary any day. And I don't think there's a heckuva lot of difference between her and McInsane, either.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I also think at least we know where Hillary is going as a probable president and this country as a whole, has no clue where Barry Hussein Obama Bin Ladin will lead us. Well, we know he will probably take the Oath of Office with his right hand over on the Koran, We know he will try to have meetings with the leaders of the enemies of this country and they will all laugh at him and his inexperience. We all know that he will increase our taxes to the point when we stop earning for the government and earning for us will be Christmas Day and now sometime in May as it stands now. We all know that he will slash military budgets down to the bone like his fellow lib did in his administration. Therefore, virtually killing any chance this country has to protect herself. Other than that, we have no clue where this half black/half white Muslim hate America we all need to love each other and share the wealth with the rest of the world guy will lead us.

If the majority of Republican voters voted for Obama, how did that help Hillary? LA Times reporters are apparently bad at basic arithmetic.

BUMP your whole post. I agree completely. Additionally, a Hillary Presidency would give Republicans in the House and Senate a target they can wring their hands over. If Hillary does for the Democrats in Congress what Bill did (ie., turn both chambers over to the GOP), that could be juicy.

Obama, on the other hand, might make some Republicans who are chicken to be called "racist" less willing to do ferocious battle with him.

If it HAD to be a rat President, I would rather see the satanic beast than the "likeable" Marxist scumbag.

Her husband won the election both times without Texas. We needed Texas to stop her not prop her up like that clown Limbaugh instructed his minions to do.

Yep, I noticed that, too.

...possibly enough GOP hijinks to make a difference in Texas. Only 9% of voters in the Democratic primary there were Republican and Obama, as he has elsewhere, drew more of them than Clinton.... Clinton won the Texas vote with 50.9%, compared to 47.4% for Obama, or roughly a 100,000-vote difference. Was the Republican vote the margin of Clinton's victory? Hard to say, but it certainly added to her margin...

The reporter is clearly a product of the government schools.

One of these 3 is GUARANTEED to be our next President:

Hillary Clinton/Bill Clinton co-presidency
Barack Hussein Obama
John McCain

No GOP vote in Texas or Ohio was going to determine the presidential candidate. If you wanted a say in who WOULD NOT be on that list (and McCain is an absolute) you had to cross party lines.

I did vote in the GOP primary, by the way and I didn’t vote for McCain. So my vote in the GOP primary did nothing to determine the candidate for President but it may influence who is selected for VP to try to win my vote.

I doubt they will make a wise choice.

Conservatives like me will never vote for Hillary or Obama in the general election and even a third party candidate would be a vote against McCain and aid the Democrat candidate.

So McCain will continue to try to play to the center.

I have heard Democrats who’ve said that the choice between Obama and McCain is much harder for them to make than choosing Obama or Hillary (oligarchy).

I know, its like a choice between Moe Larry and Curley. We get a globalist stooge in november regardless.

Hey don't insult those fine men, compared to the clowns we have running for president, Moe, Larry & Curly are the Three Wise Men.

I dare Obama’s supporters to call me a racist. I voted for Alan Keyes in the primary and would rather have him as the GOP nominee than John McCain (although Duncan Hunter was my first choice; Keyes was still in the race in Texas, Hunter had dropped out but was still on the ballot).

I would never want the family values of the Clinton's in the White House again. On this she is far more dangerous.

The “gay agenda” (whereby some gays want to have their sexuality always on display) will be embraced as never before.

As far as our troops she will have them wearing Blue Helmets in no time. And here in the USA is where the UN will be enforcing “peace”.

On 10 o'clock Houston ABC news last night they did a segment on "our favorite Dem," Sheila Jackson-Lee. Her district went HEAVY Obama as was expected but she is campaigning for and pledged her superdelegate vote to Hillery, making most of her constituents mad.

As we know, Queen Sheila will-- and has-- knocked elephants down to get on TV. It seems she has suddenly gone underground and is unavailble for comment.

The segment ended with one of her constiuents saying, "She's up for re-election in November." My guess is she has no opponent in November!

Well, let's just look at the issues important to conservatives, to see if there is any significant difference between John Insane and the Rodham-rodent.

We know the hidabeast will appoint abortion protectionist judges who will legislate from the SCOTUS power position to create social programs with legal protection; Johnny has declared strict constructionist judges are his favored nominees.

The Rodham rodent will raise taxes every time she has support from the House and Senate to do so, and she will use tax increases to dividie this nation even further into 'haves and have-nots' as defined by the DNC ... LBJ proved the democrats are more than willing to create a welfare state to enslave any body of voters they can isolate with handouts. Johnny has stated that the Bush tax cuts must be made permanent.

The Hildebeast hates our military and will not only use it for a welfare system to the world (as in Mogadishu and purposefully NOT enforcing when our under siege troops needed it) and divert every dollar she can get away with to the socialist programs the DNC wants for the entrapment of citizenry into dependency. McCain will use force when warranted and will completely fund the military so that our troops have the best and plenty of it to carry out the missions.

Legislation regarding the invasion from South of our borders will follow a Kennedyesque approach of full amnesty and welfare for the invaders, to make these dependants DNC voters. McCain wants a system to count, identify, limit, and regulate the Mexican populace trying to whore-out our social systems without becoming citizens. We know the Rodham rodent will not close the border. Maybe Johnny has seen the handwriting on the conservative walls which has thwarted his amnesty efforts thus far.

And we could get more detailed in legislation directions, but that is sufficient for me to vote for McCain over the Rodham-rodent, and certainly over the racists socialist named Obama.

Plus if Hildy does somehow get the nomination, she will somehow force Obama to be her VP.

So you end up with BOTH of them anyway.

The article explained how that helped Hildabeast-—by increasing her margin of victory.

In a proportional system, which the Rats have, EVERY crossover vote helped that candidate by increasing the margin of victory/defeat.

Delegates are awarded based on the popular vote and the margin.
