Ban golf balls.
A common sense response! This idiot has ended his career, no one will touch him for advertising. He is a doofus. But he knows he has stepped in it and will probably plead guilty.
Not trying to flame you, but another FReeper just pointed out the fact that this man was losing possibly thousands of dollars on this bird’s interference. That to me would mean it is getting in the way of his livelyhood.
Well if that isn't the most ridiculous assertion and in no way represents how things are in the natural world. Unless, I suppose, the "nobody" means just human being and even at that it's absurd. The notion that human beings are not also part of the natural world is why this kind of weirdness goes on.
First, trust that if a bird could kill the human stealing its eggs or hurting its fledglings, it would. And if that Mama squirrel-rodent could murder a human with prying arms then hurting its babies...it would.
And any human being who allows a mosquito to sit and suck out his or her blood with no interference is a notion not ready for prime time.
It's called common sense. It should be way more common than it evidently is.
ROFLMAO!!!!
He shot a bird. I understand it was “on the list” and he’ll get fined but why the outrage by conservatives?
“....but this action by this alleged human only makes life more difficult for the more normal amongst us.”
Come now. That is a bit of an overstatement.
I am absolutely not defending the golfer by the way.
Oh come on....a loud blare from a horn, some shouting or something.....waving of arms...
...well hey...you can buy that nonsense. Folks’ common sense and intelligence does vary.
The most intelligent comment of them all.
Heh.
Another intelligent answer illustrating perfectly why human beings are at the top of the evolutionary eco-system.
NOT!
BAHAHAHHAHAHA!!
Not near as much as he has now got in his own way of making a lively-hood. How many PGA endorsements do you think he will now get??
Hope he has his chauffeurs license up to date.
Okay.
I do not think it was an overstatement but you evidently do.
We shall agree to disagree.
“Yes, you are right, that is an absurd statement.
That said, the guy is a jerk. He didnt have to repeatedly try to nail the bird. And hes a self-absorbed idiot to keep doing it while being filmed.”
Yes that is pretty much my take.
But, it seems the reaction to what he did ala the posted article is WAY out of balance with the actual crime.
Loud horn at a golfing event? Sorry, but I would believe that those would be controlled.
And most of the “common birds” don’t respond to waving arms or yells. Ever tried scaring away a flock of pigeons or crows with just noise? You have to be on top of them before they leave. (And the hawk was in a tree).
Also, what was the condition of the course? What about the kikuyu grass in the second cut rough -- did that change his grip? Was crowd noise a factor? How does he think Tiger is hitting the ball this year?
How does HE mark his Titleist?
I'm trying figure out how someone this dumb got where he was.
NOBODY is good enough to hit a bird with a golf shot deliberately; the hawk’s luck simply ran out.
Oh, I agree the guy is an asshat and coulda woulda shoulda controlled his temper better. But at the time, he was losing money and it was due to the hawk’s noise.
The hawk was a pest.
